~First Name: John

~Age: 28

~Location: Tennessee right now. Moving to Indiana

~Occupation: Freelance writer, working on a degree in computers so I can afford to purchase food.

~Favorite Color: Red

~Denomination: Catholic, but I was educated at a Baptist school and I incorportate some of their ideas into my faith. I've actually been looking for a church I can feel comfortable with. I know I'm Christian and I'm closer to Catholic than anything else, but I'm still working on the details.

~Favorite Food: Chinese food, especially crab rangoons and egg rolls.

~Favorite Band: I tend to like individual singers more than bands. If you make me choose, though: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Hootie and the Blowfish, The Corrs

~Favorite Holiday: Christmas

~Interesting Factoid #1: I've sold a number of stories and self-published a few books, but I'm still looking for the big break that will make me a "real" writer.

~Interesting Factoid #2: I was homeschooled from 6th Grade through High School.

~Interesting Factoid #3: I live with my mother and two aunts. We get along well together, plus mom's disabled, so I like being able to help her out.

~Interesting Factoid #4: I own a small dog named Penny whom I suspect is actually a psychotic gerbil in disguise.

~Interesting Factoid #5: Not long ago, I spent a month making myself a collection of 28 CD's, containing my favorite songs from each year of my life. This is the sort of geeky thing I do regularly.

~Interesting Factoid #6: My family lived on Cape Cod (MA) for half my life. It's beautiful there, but it's essentially a big island, and living on an island gets quite dull. So we picked up and moved. It's been... really, really frustrating, trying to find the right place.

~Interesting Factoid #7: I'm secretly a ham and I love voice acting. My greatest acheivement? Playing Henry Bolingbroke (aka King Henry IV) in an online production of Shakespeare's Richard II.

~Favorite Bible Verse: Acts 10:34-35 and also the second chapter of Luke, for the Christmas story

~Bible Translation: Probably the New International Version, but I like to read from several different translations to get a broader perspective.

~Favorite Secular Novel: Watership Down by Richard Adams.

~Favorite Christian Novel: Can I count Narnia? I think I will...

Eh, I don't mind being called Josh. I've had two good friends by that name, and I've always liked the story of Joshua.

Now, refer to me as "Judas" and we might have a problem... ;)

A violent one arn't we?

nope im not..but always been told I should become one..lol

Thats an awefully big sacrifice that other people think you should be making. If someone told me I should be a priest I'd ask them if they want to take the vows of poverty and chastity for life. No offense but I don't think I'd recommend becomming a nun to anyone. But also remember this is comming from a Lutheran.

yeah, i dont blame you for not recommending it. When people tell me I should, i just nod my head and be like, "yeah okay"(pretty sarcastically) and leave it at that.

I dont think being a nun would be my cup of tea though. Dont know why, just dont think it would. ^_^

If you became a protestant you could be a deaconess, and get married, have kids, and you don't have to live in a monistary (or whatever they call the place where nuns live)

Yeah I just think thats something thats an awefully big sacrifice that other people have decided you should make. I mean this isn't like saying someone should be a teacher or something. This is something that you have to give your whole life to. Being a nun isn't a job or a career, its a lifestyle.

yup, that it is.

Yeah, that would be cool to be a deaconess. I learned a lot about Protestantism (i took a whole class on it for a semester in college). It was very interesting.
I wish that option was in the Catholic religion.

Christianity is a religion. Catholic is a denomination of so.

I personally have an issue with the terms "Catholic Religion" and I really get ticked about saying "Catholics and Christians"

I'm in the ELCA, our church has determined through actually having researched it that Catholics are infact Christians. So I always say "Catholics are Christians, we've had that checked"

Our churches have their differences but we worship the same God who saved us through the same Jesus Christ.

Thank you!

One big issue I have with official Catholicism is our tendency to think of ourselves as Catholics first and Christians second, when it should be the other way around. I wish more people, both Protestant and Catholic, focused on our similarities rather than our differences...
