Atone,
I think you're on the right track. I would like to add that often people want a quick fix for the habits that have taken many years to develop. Unless you determine the root cause of why you got where you got to and do what is needed to break those ties that formed that habit, the likelihood of permanently eliminating that habit is a huge challenge.
Successful people do things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do. We can choose to make the choices of successful people or choose not to. Successful people also do not buckle under adversity or when things do not go their way. They are persistent and do not give up -- they persevere to meet their goals, no matter what obstacles are in their way. I know, I've been on this quest to lose this bodyfat for now 7 yrs. Each twist and turn, I've learned some new things that will help me for the rest of my life, as well as those of my family and loved ones.
My character has been so developed....all for the glory of God. If I would've attained my goals within a few months, I would've missed out on all this that God has been able to develop in me, and bless my life with. It's like the catepillar in the cocoon. It has to struggle to get out, but the end result is a beautiful butterfly. If you took the struggle out, the result would never be the beautiful butterfly.
At this point in my life, because of what God has worked through me, I've learned to truly love who I am. I posted a part of this in another post, but I really LOVE who I am on the inside and outside. Though I am about 14% bodyfat from my goal of 15%, I still think I'm totally hot, gorgeous, voluptuous, desireable, attractive, sexy, fun, etc. I've had to deal with my thoughts before that I wasn't these things unless I was slender. Working that all out over the past few years has allowed me to see myself more as God sees me -- beautifully and wonderfully created.
I've also been able to develop a healthy relationship with food, and now see food as a means to sustaining life rather than living to eat, I eat to live. It is no longer an obsession. Now I'm working on my relationship with money. We are a want it NOW society without paying the price for the hard work it takes to eliminate bad and unhealthy habits.
Anyway, didn't mean to get on the soapbox.....
