Atone,

I think you're on the right track. I would like to add that often people want a quick fix for the habits that have taken many years to develop. Unless you determine the root cause of why you got where you got to and do what is needed to break those ties that formed that habit, the likelihood of permanently eliminating that habit is a huge challenge.

Successful people do things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do. We can choose to make the choices of successful people or choose not to. Successful people also do not buckle under adversity or when things do not go their way. They are persistent and do not give up -- they persevere to meet their goals, no matter what obstacles are in their way. I know, I've been on this quest to lose this bodyfat for now 7 yrs. Each twist and turn, I've learned some new things that will help me for the rest of my life, as well as those of my family and loved ones.

My character has been so developed....all for the glory of God. If I would've attained my goals within a few months, I would've missed out on all this that God has been able to develop in me, and bless my life with. It's like the catepillar in the cocoon. It has to struggle to get out, but the end result is a beautiful butterfly. If you took the struggle out, the result would never be the beautiful butterfly.

At this point in my life, because of what God has worked through me, I've learned to truly love who I am. I posted a part of this in another post, but I really LOVE who I am on the inside and outside. Though I am about 14% bodyfat from my goal of 15%, I still think I'm totally hot, gorgeous, voluptuous, desireable, attractive, sexy, fun, etc. I've had to deal with my thoughts before that I wasn't these things unless I was slender. Working that all out over the past few years has allowed me to see myself more as God sees me -- beautifully and wonderfully created.

I've also been able to develop a healthy relationship with food, and now see food as a means to sustaining life rather than living to eat, I eat to live. It is no longer an obsession. Now I'm working on my relationship with money. We are a want it NOW society without paying the price for the hard work it takes to eliminate bad and unhealthy habits.

Anyway, didn't mean to get on the soapbox.....

Awesome post, the best thing about working out, you feel good about yourself. When the results start happening, I believe that is when a light goes on in the inside of you that tells you "LOOK" I can start to see results, and from there you push yourself harder. I feel great after working out. As I stated here before I give anyone just 6 weeks of pushing yourself hard and you will be amazed. I lost so many inches in my waist. I was in a 34" and now at a 29" I'm 5'9 and 180lbs of solid muscle. I'm just trying to work harder on my love handles..

My character has been so developed....all for the glory of God

Well no kidding look how many blessings you have hehe. Share the wealth lol
God Bless

Atone,

Exercise is wonderful, but being a former "addict", this can also be a drawback. From 18 yrs to 37 yrs, I've been an exercise addict. That's actually caused me problems. I won't go into the nitty gritty details. I totally love exercise and rebuff anyone who says they do not have the time. We all find time to do the things we want to do. For me, the drug of choice for most of my adulthood has been exercise, regardless of whether my relationship with food has been healthy or not.

Exercise certainly does create results -- in my case, excessive exercise (among quite a few other things) led to hormonal imbalances, which in the end all these things led to my heart condition.

The key in life is to lead a balanced life. Even the things we deem as good for us can be unhealthy when taken to obsession or extremes. I took some very healthy things in life and became obsessed, extreme in them. Not a good thing.

Actually, I have handed out nearly 30,000 blessings over the past year or so. I do spread the wealth. Whenever I get below a certain # of blessings, I just add more blessings to my account by donating to CF. Here's some for you Atone...for creating healthier habits. Keep up the good work.

God Bless you MDolls68.

I'm very happy to read your post because it encourages me also hehe. If people stayed away from the TV a bit more, or not on here (computer) they will have time, everyone has time. When a person says to me they do not have time. I look and think to myself, maybe unmanaged reasonabilities on your time. I have a pretty busy life, being a single father and working a full time job and going to schoo, two nights out of the week, and yet I have time for an hour to benefit myself and improve my health four nights out of the week. Come on people. It's your health..

God Bless
