Yup... I got up this morning, turned on the radio to 97.3 in Edmonton. They say with the wind chill it's about -50 C. So, being the brave Canuck that I am, I threw on a jacket and went outside. My car decided that it felt like sleeping in, so no school for me today .

The joys of being Canadian!

Hello neighbors!

It's been really crazy cold up there, huh? We've had a bit of a cold snap in NH, too. Had to miss work one day when my car didn't start, either.
But we North-North Americans are a tough bunch, we can take it. (I've got lots of Canadian and Newfoundlander blood in my heritage - I guess I ought to be able to handle a New England winter, huh?)

Are you guys getting snow today? We're due for a mini-blizzard tomorrow night I hear. The college I work at is already starting to raise the red flag to cancel classes - yeah! I always love a day off in the middle of the week.

Well, just bopping around and thought I'd say hello to my Canadian neighbors. Stay warm fellas!

i had to carry some groceries home, but i forgot my gloves. by the time i crossed 3 blocks, my hands were so cold i couldn't even open the door for myself... they were sort of "frozen" into a u shape.

luckily doors and elevators were opened for me, and after about 10 mins, the portable heater warmed them up sufficiently.

it may have only been -30 i guess, but it's still cold.

-50... that's nothin

I lived in Saskatchewan for 6 years... in a small town outside of Regina.. called Moose Jaw. One morning, it was -75 with the windchill. something like -42 without... bloody rediculous if you ask me.. and there was still school that day.. now I laugh at the people here in toronto who complain about -15 (my girlfriend being one of them.. she grew up in India and Egypt... poor girl...

there really is no difference in feeling between -50 and -75... after about -40 it all feels the same to me.

hey breetai, I'm in edmonton too! my car has not run since sunday night... it's been plugged in the whole time, and i tried adding gas, gasline antifreeze, and a boost... no luck. can't get through to AMA either... what a pain. good thing I'm not working until thursday night...

Beanface....Moose Jaw is a small town?(Do you know Big Doug? bah, probably not) lol, I broke down in Whitewood, Sask. once. That kind of sucked. I had to stay in the Whitewood Inn. At least it had a hot tub, but I don't think they've cleaned it in a while. -75!?! I don't think I've ever experience that! Not even when I was in Winnipeg!

Hi Wolflily!

Yup, Edmonton's been cold. Nice to see that you're suffering too klewlis...
