Nah, we adopted the bagel and cream cheese a long time ago. It's only a Yankee breakfast if you put lox on it and had to give someone the finger on the way to the deli to get it.

Okay, it's my turn for reassurance. I was born in Mobile, AL -- as Southern as you can get without falling into the Gulf -- yet I've never developed a taste for sweet tea. Does that compromise my identity as a Southerner or is there some kind of wiggle room here?

i grew up in upstate ny...i've never had one of those. i think i'll stick with regular bagels & cream cheese...my dad's originally from georgia...most of my family still lives there...i visit when i can...someday i'm moving there...i'm in kansas now working. its nice here. lots better than ny. grits are good i don't like tea though sweetened or not. i'll stick with pepsi or lemonade

Actually, I think Kansas & NY were once part of Virginia, which of course is a Suthern State; and women eat lots uf strange vittles when thar expecting.

Ooh...I disappear for a week or two and all this happens? Hmm...all I remember was leaving off on a discussion about tornadoes or something. Bagels are all right, though my favorite kind of breakfast food are those ham biscuits that I get at Lester Beauchamp's in Nicholson...they're the kind with the GOOD ham, too...none of that sugar cured crud...salt cured...mmm...makes me homesick just thinking about it.

Modesty: What do you think, CF Georgians ?

Wow.
I believe that in recent years clothing has reached an all time short for younger girls. I hate seeing 7 and 8 yr olds in the same thing I see my co-workers wearing, its inappropriate *plus* I to believe it leads to sexual problems. People will go more on how old you look versus how old you actually are in a situation of like / dislike. Plus I personally hate the latest trend of low cut v- neck shirts. I hate showing off 'that part' of my body and its almost impossible these days to find anything 'trendy' that I like.

I read this article in the paper yesterday. I have to say that I will be relieved when the pendulum swings back toward modesty, (even though I have nothing but the greatest admiration for beautiful women .) It seems that I find myself these days having to make an effort to not look, and that just makes me uncomfortable. It is much easier to carry on conversation, or work side-by-side, or even shop when more is left to my imagination. I can control my imagination much better without all the visual input.

And speaking of young girls. I have a ten year old daughter (who does dress modestly, thank God.) The problem comes in trying to shop for her. There is very little in the stores for someone who has a desire to dress modestly. It can be frustrating.

It's all capitalist nonsense...these big name companies like Abercrombie want to make a buck by putting our younger generations in jeopardy. These days, they don't see kids anymore, they see walking dollar signs with designer bookbags, gucci purses, and all that kind of ****. And everyone knows that if you slap a designer label on even the smallest strip of cloth, then it sells like hotcakes. What's worse is that they're trying to market rebellion as if it's actually some unique thing..."Be different, think different," while whispering under their breath "buy our stuff." Ultimately, that's what I think it is. And can you really be surprised when these days, our children spend most of their waking lives in front of the television?

At least, those are my humble thoughts on the matter. Ultimately, it all comes down to being about the money.
