I disagree.

God inspired the Hebrew and Greek.
No argument there.

But He did it for them -- not us.

We're in a different dispensation.
TCassidy said:
God preserved the Hebrew and Greek.
But ... as you went on to say ... He did it by having it translated into another language, before the old language becam obsolete.

Scholarly men translated the Hebrew and Greek into English.
Interesting word choice.

I prefer "holy men."

We know which side your bread is buttered on; don't we, professor? ;)
TCassidy said:
In fact, it is you who usurps the place of the Holy Spirit by telling people to only use the KJV while saying all other English versions are "per-versions" and Satanic bibles.
Then maybe you should go back and re-read what I'm saying ... um ... professor.

There are seven Writings that I believe should glow in the dark (in a manner of speaking).

Here they are again ... professor:

1. AV330 Gothic Version
2. AV700 Anglo-Saxon Version
3. AV1389 Wycliffe
4. AV1525 Tyndale
5. AV1560 Geneva Bible
6. AV1568 Bishop's Bible
7. AV1611 King James Bible

These seven are supernatural Writings that God ...

Psalm 138:2b ... for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God superintended those re-writings, just like He superintended the writing of the KJB.

That means that when a translator sat down and tried to write, GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS (plural), his hand couldn't make the letter S.

Amen. The reason for the word "heaven" in the KJV of the Bible is that one of the three creation elements was created. Air, dust and water compose everything which exists physically. I paraphrase:

In the beginning of the creation of the perfect Heaven, God the invisible Spirit created or brought into the physical world, the air, dust and water. Jesus/Lord God, the Light of the FIRST Day, will add fire or life to make living beings, which are subject to the death/darkness of anything made apart from God the invisible Spirit. In order to become immortal. people MUST be born again, or born Spiritiually. Romans 8:0 Jesus made the way when there was no way.

You must be one of those Southern Baptists or something, eh?
I was saved in an IFB church.
I was baptized in an IFB church.
I was married in an IFB church.
I was educated in an IFB Seminary.
I pastored an IFB church (the same church for 27 years)
I taught at an IFB college.
I taught at an IFB Seminary for 25 years.

I think my IFB credentials are sufficient.

There are three "heavens" ... or "firmaments" ... mentioned in the Bible.

First Heaven = our atomosphere = 0 - 62 miles up
Second Heaven = outer space = 62 miles - edge of physical universe
Third Heaven = Heaven proper

Both First & Second heavens are mentioned here:

Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

Third Heaven is mentioned here:

2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, ( whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth ) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

Paul went there after he was beaten to death at Lystra (Acts 14).

Oh, joy.

So what happened then?

If I went to your church and/or seminary, would I find hymnals where "the Blood" is replaced with "the Cross"?

And what's your take on Lester Roloff, Bob Jones, and Mack Ford?

And once again your ignorance is being openly displayed.

There have been three English bible translations referred to as "Authorized Version" (AV).

The first was the Great Bible of 1539, authorized by King Henry VIII "to be read aloud in the churches" (Church of England).

The second was the Bishops' Bible of 1568. The Bishops' Bible was authorized by a Royal Warrant signed by Queen Elizabeth I, as being "appointed to be read in the Churches" (Church of England).

The third "Authorized Version" was the version of 1611, as claimed by the title page. However, King James I neglected to issue a Royal Warrant to that effect so, technically, the KJV of 1611 is not now nor ever was an "Authorized Version" regardless of what the title page may claim.

And, of course, none of the subsequent editions have been authorized by the Crown.

Today the Church of England endorses these bibles as "authorized." English Revision (1881), Jerusalem Bible (1996), Good News Bible (1976) and the New American Bible (1970).

First Heaven IS Adam's firmament which was made on the 2nd Day Gen 1:8 in the middle of water. Couldn't be our Heaven/firmament since we are NOT surrounded by water.

Second Heaven IS today's Heaven/Universe which was made on the 3rd Day Gen 2:4 by Jesus/Lord God. Destined for burning.

Third Heaven was made on the 3rd Day by Jesus/Lord God. Gen 2:4 It's also called "the New Heaven and New Earth" Revelation 21:1. It's where Jesus is physically today, preparing a place for us. Jhn 14:2

You just don't get it, do you, chief?

Who do you think is doing the authorizing? King James or God?

Yes, I do get it. Unlike you. :(

Henry VIII authorized the Great Bible to "be read in the Church." Queen Elizabeth authorized the Bishops' Bible "to be read in the Church."

King James or God?
Neither. James neglected to issue a Royal Warrant authorizing the English Version of 1611. And no subsequent revision of the English Version of 1611, including but not limited to, the Revision of 1762 (called the Cambridge edition) the Revision of 1769 (called the Oxford edition, the most common KJV in print today) and the Revision of 1873 (commonly called the Schrivener Cambridge edition) was so authorized.

No.

I knew Lester Roloff and counted him as a friend. Unfortunately, after his death, some troubling things were revealed about him and his relationship to one of the girls in one of the homes. :)

I knew BJ Jr. Didn't much like him. He seemed pretty arrogant to me, but that might have just been my perception.

Bob III was, in my opinion, the better man, but frankly none of the Jones impressed me all that much. They were very exclusive, being the embodiment of "Me, my wife, son John and his wife, us four and no more."

Okay, TC.

You're certainly entitled to your opinions.

I'm sure I'd get a failing grade in your class, unless I took the this-is-what-I-was-taught method of answering your tests.

Shall we leave it at that?

Oh, wait!

One more, if you would please?

Jack Hyles
I knew Jack well and counted him as a friend. In the earlier years of his ministry he had a friend and mentor, John R. Rice, who kept him on the straight and narrow.

But after Dr. Rice's death in 1980 Jack seems to have lost his anchor and drifted into all sorts of nonsense, including some very questionable teachings from his pulpit, not to mention his questionable relationship with his secretary.

I rebuked him over the phone concerning his conduct and he told me that when God was through with him He would take him home. That was the last week of January, 2001 (Tuesday). You can figure out the rest.

(By the way. He was buried on my birthday. It was a bittersweet day.)

Alright, TC ... thank you for all the information.

My apologies for being so rude.

I'd like to end this conversation on a good note, and maybe we can continue it at that Great Supper we have a reservation for, eh?

No. First copyright 1928, last one 1975 It's a chain reference published by Zondervan.
Interesting.

Is that a Thompson Chain Reference you're talking about?

In any case, His name needs to be in all caps.

No it's not Thompson. Lawson maybe, but he may have just done the color coding and not the chain reference. I bought it in 1977 so I probably couldn't find anything online about it now.
I used esword KJV, and YLT the most because I have a couple commentaries linked in and can easily add notes in the split screen.

As far as His name being in all caps....I really don't see what difference it makes. Koine Greek didn't have any caps so it wasn't in the original Greek and Aramaic and Hebrew didn't use caps either.
