Anybody watch it?
That last episode... wow

Just about to. I read the books so I already know what happens but I'm dreading it anyway.

Very well made TV series. Good acting, good production, and they're holding much closer to the books than I expected.

But yeah, I'm expecting the worst today.

Well I stopped watching the series about 3 episodes back. Felt conviction that God was saying "Christians shouldn't watch this!". Er, not that I am saying you shouldn't, thats up to you.

So what happened with the recent episode? I hear people are swearing about it and threatening to never watch it again. Did they kill of someone they weren't suppose to? I'm guessing thats likely it. If so who died and why is it bad?

I don't think it's a story for everyone. It has very adult themes, has a very grim and graphic view of war, and doesn't offer any clear good/evil morality between sides. It's an ugly story and good people get slaughtered with the bad. In a sense it's a lot like the real world. Martin pulls deeply from history. Last night's episode was loosely based on 2 horrifying events in Scotland. Martin says he really can't compete with the ugliness of real history.

If ya really want to know what's got everybody upset, google 'red wedding plot'. The last 10 minutes of the last episode are really emotional and painful. It's a real punch to the gut.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Highlight the text to read: ==>
They basically killed all of the Starks last episode except for Arya and Sansa, and possibly someone else I am missing lol...

****UN-AIRED SPOILER ALERT****

Highlight the text to read: ==> Catelyn Stark is "reanimated" by the process that the dude fighting for the Lord of Light was reanimated after he was sliced by Sandor.

You all are so cut throat vicious!;);)

Spoiler correction: All adult true Starks have gone on to the great Throne in the sky. The youth boys are still somewhere Between... Arya was very close to being a part of ceremonies. Snow is somewhere North of the land Of the North. Basically the Starks are a group of divided orphans.
Even worse they killed another wolf! Hey, in the Game of Thrones, you either win or die.
End Spolier (highlight to read)

New favorite quote: Spoiler for grusomeness:
"Arya Stark: Some day I'm going to put a sword through your eye and out the back of your skull.
----------------------------highlight above for spoiler
Tyrion and Arya always seem to get the best lines.

"Some girls are stupid"
"No, My Lord, anyone can be killed".

"All dwarves are Bas.. in their fathers eyes."
Alot of what Tyrion can't be posted, I don't know why...;)

The Hounds farewell to the kingsguard, city, and the king, which I can't post here.

I found the clip online before I got chance to read the responses here. Wow. I'm glad I stopped watching the show. Definitely sure God wouldn't be watching it as "entertainment".

Do you think that God prefers our normal fare of TV shows and movies where violence is heroic and glamorous?

This is a positive for GoT. It depicts war in an ugly fashion. Innocents get massacred. Characters you like get massacred. Massacred in awful and un-heroic ways. It's not gore for the sake of gore. It's meant to be disturbing and to hurt you. It's an ugly painting of something that is often all too ugly in the real world. Maybe it's a positive thing that a writer is turning his audience off to violence, making it hurt rather than excite.

I wouldn't call GoT Christian in the least. But of all the valid complaints to make about its morality I wouldn't list painting war as an ugly thing among them.

Never seen the TV show, so just from the books (and read long ago) for me.

re the scenes under discussion It was upsetting the Wolf died. But at least he put up a heck of a fight.

With the world in question setup as one where the Gods are real and where if nothing else was sacred oaths were that there was no retribution for a long time, perhaps forever is unexpected.

Or perhaps the for a long time may just mean that when the hammer falls it will fall hard enough to make what has happened so far look tame.

If that happens the reactions of viewers may be amusing.

^ whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

SPOILER ALERT:

in the show the wolf was basically in a cage of sorts and they just shot it with crossbows... no fight whatsoever :(

that scene probably upset me more than the rest of it...

Yes, that upset me too. And, really? (Spoiler ahead) Robb Stark didn't become wroth and start rampaging - at least a scratch of his sword on someone! Catelyn did more damage than he did...

The TV version is a lot uglier than the book. The Young Wolf doesn't put up any real fight. I think they show a grand total of 1 Frey dying and even that is painful to watch.
