Ever noticed that one strikingly deep line from a game? Or that horribly translated bit of dialouge? Post it here, the intellectual, and the foolish.

I'll start off with some Final Fantasy quotes.

Hahaha I'm surprised you could find that many Final Fantasy Tactics quotes that didn't sound ridiculous; that's one of the worst translation jobs I've ever seen in a game--it was a great game though.

"All your base are belong to us" is a stock phrase arising from an interesting translation used in the Sega Genesis version of the Japanesevideo gameZero Wing (the arcade version of Zero Wing does not include the quote). It is sometimes abbreviated AYBABTU. ​

Here is some trivia on AYBABTU:

On April 1, 2003, in Sturgis, Michigan, seven men aged 17 to 20 placed signs all over town that read "All your base are belong to us. You have no chance to survive make your time." They said they were playing an April Fools joke by mimicking the famous Flash animation which depicted the slogan ubiquitously. Unfortunately for the young men, not many people got the joke. Many residents were upset that the signs appeared while the U.S. was at war with Iraq, and police chief Eugene Alli said the signs could be "a borderline terrorist threat depending on what someone interprets it to mean.

"Some people who play multiplayer games like Counter-Strike have been banned from servers for constantly repeating this phrase.

Now that we are all over the ULTIMATE in video game quotes, here is a few more funny ones:

Insightful:
In Diablo II, Act 2 (I think), Deckard Cain says "While the motives of the Hell born are straightforward and bent towards destruction, the motives of the beings of heaven are unfathomable." I'm not sure how theologically accurate this is, but it's interesting.

Amusing:
Grunt in Warcraft II : "Stop poking me!" when you click him a lot.

Baldur's Gate 2 had some great dialogue:
Minsc: " Yes! Lead evil by example, and one day we need no longer put the boot to those who stray off the path of goodness into the muck and bile of of villainy and track great bloody footprints across our lily white tiles! Boo will have clean wood shavings you evil bas***s!" (Edited for mild language ... Boo is Minsc's pet hamster.)

Korgan: "I will if I wish to, ye blasted tree-hugging pansy-eating dirt-lover. I'll bite th' head off a dove if th' thought crosses me mind.
Minsc: Why? I have never heard of such head-biting villainy, expect perhaps in the larger cities, but what passes for entertainment these days is not for me to decide."

Minsc:"Boo is outraged! See his fury! It's small, so look close. Trust me, it's there."

Stuff games. If you want bad translation, try buying some cheep VCD's or DVD's from Malaysia. LOL, I never knew why but they put ENGLISH captions on ENGLISH SPEAKING movies.... and STILL the translation is AWFULL!!!

In Guilty Gear X2 (US) Robo-Ky still says "GIGIGIGI" but it gets translated in the subtitles as... "BZZZZT."

Go figure.
