we don't have any slaves because we have moved beyond the bible. over time a paradigm shift that was not in relation to the bible occurred. just as some Christians don't take genesis 1 literally any more, today Christians ignore the passages that leed one to believe slavery is ok.

If you say they did it in respect to the Bible, which is what I think you are saying, then that supports my claim that if you guys ran the world today, in respect to how you interpret the Bible, we would all be burning, hanging, slaving, or hiding.

actually you guys already did that so its a non issue. Christians already burned and hanged and slaved and destroyed the writings of other cultures to further their own agenda. I don't have to think about How i would act depending on how i interpret the bible because Christians have already shown me how they interpreted the bible. You are trying to revise history.

secular culture combined with a paradigm shift has led us to many of the values we hold today. many project these values on the bible when the bible really doesn't support these values.

The bible as a written supports burning of witches and is not against burning witches. This is the literal interpretation which many revise in today's age because they know its wrong.

The bible is a historical novel. I wouldnt take its lead in anything. As for what is or isnt supported, it seems that whoever looks can find support, or opposition to, whatever they want to find. Some found its good to burn withces, you dont. Which is in spite of and which is in respect to? You guys can flog that one out. I totally dont care.

I would not run things because of, dispite, in reference to, or in any way acknowledging the bible, your interpretation, mine, or anyone elses. I doubt any atheist would.

For my opinion anyone killed in the name of god, the bible, religion in general was murdered. The bible is full of it. You tell me if they were all murdered or executed.
