I was received by Holy Chrismation. My Roman baptism was in their manner, sprinkling.

Don't let anyone tell you you need this or that to be truly received. Whatever your priest tells you, which will accord with your Bishop's instructions to him, is fine.

Thank you.
I was just wondering if its a practice thats more common to NOT be fully immersed. I know whatever happens so long as my priest is ok, itll be ok.

I was baptised mormon once, and they are fully immersed, with the bishop actually stopping it because the person doing my baptism messed it up, requiring me to go down again.

Immersion is the "standard" ... but as the Didache gives different instructions according to what is possible - if there is no baptistry large enough for fully immersing, then pouring (three times) would suffice. :)

It really depends on what's available as far as a tub/body of water and its size.

I am a catechumen at a greek orthodox church and was wondering if its the "norm" to have full immersion or not?
My priest said i didnt have to, just a splashing would suffice.

Also, im new here. So howdy to all.
By the way, welcome to CF and to TAW! It's always especially nice to welcome an Orthodox brother or sister. :) We are glad to have you with us, and congratulations on your upcoming reception into the Church!

Yeah, orthodox are granted citizenship from day one while us heretics are still the gypsies of TAW after five years of participation ^_^

Adult converts who are baptized in our church are immersed as much as possible. We have a very large portable pool / decorated tub (sort of like a trough size). Technically, full immersion is the ideal, but that doesn’t mean other baptism in the Orthodox Church wouldn’t be valid.

I saw photos from one Church that used a large barrel so adults could be fully immersed but it was done vertically.

Our parish uses a large trough as well (decorated nicely). Some adults can be immersed, some not. The real concern in my case wasn't so much the depth of the container but the slipperiness when the oil was added (but then my baptism might have used quite a bit more oil than normal as my Nouna kept receiving oil from the priest but didn't understand what he wanted her to do with it so ... quite a lot ended up in the water! )

I saw a baptism on youtube where the adult woman was baptized using affusion, similar to how adult baptisms are done at Episcopalian or Catholic churches I have been to (leaning over a font). But the water was poured over a cross. I believe it was in Eastern Europe (possibly Slovenia or the Czech Republic?). I believe the baptism was conducted in an Orthodox church, but it may have actually been Byzantine Catholic.
