• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I feel very frustrated. I have fairly severe ADD, Depression and anxiety. I'm in the ministry but I'm having a really hard time focusing and getting into prayer, devotion, reading the bible, etc and the result is, I feel very unmotivated and feel no interest in praying or doing anything. That's what happens when your spirit gets dry and hungry. But with ADD and such, how do I get out of this vicious cycle? I hate how depressed I feel. And yes I've talked to doctors many times.

Sometimes medication can help, although sometimes it has no effect. Just have to try it to see that if it's something that can help you. Hopefully you would have a doctor who truly wants to help you, not just one who throws pills at people. I'm not saying every doctor out there does that, but there are a lot who do.

Every day is a spiritual battle. Satan wants nothing more than for us to feel flat on our face and fail. Maybe you are being attacked spiritually and that could be the cause of some of it. Maybe there is an issue that you haven't dealt with from the past that needs healing. Perhaps God is just using this as a way of bringing you closer to Him. I cannot say for sure.

To better understand I think I would need more details.

How long has this been going on?

When did it start?

Can you point to a specific event when it started?

Is it just a general overall feeling of depression, no motivation, sadness, loss of concentration that you feel every day?

Where do you feel like you are at in your walk with God?

I'm just trying to get a better understand of what's going on and where you are at in your life because I don't know you personally.

Medication by a physician who is tuned in to ADD will help. There are other factors in one's life to consider, and much prayer is surely needed ---not to just take the problem away, but to show you what to do (being completely yielded to the Lord).

One who is very close to me and has struggled with ADD, started on a dose of Ritalin and found much help and clear thinking.

Getting into the habit of exercising will work wonders for your depression and anxiety...

sounds trivial but its not. Having a regular exercise routine will go a long ways towards helping you feel better more of the time...

What does grab your attention? It may sound like a personal question but there is no wrong answer here.
