I'm back here.. I visited a couple other rooms tonight getting adventerous.. but could I handle it nooooo.

I decided I'm sticking to the Christian only rooms, or the "fellowship" type threads in the all members areas.

no more debate threads for me...

really I think I just needed to vent.. but I'm curious, how many people here have had to avoid certain sections of the forum in order to avoid getting upset w/ others?

Am I the only one that lets the others get to me?

Oh my sweet sister,
I avoid most of them. Sometime I feel that there are some on this website who have nothing else better to do that just sit and look at the computer.
I stay away from the debates and other forums because they seem to be bias in the mods in some of them. I got 2 offical warnings on one forum just for posting a question. I thought that was a little over kill since I have been here for over 3 years and NEVER been warned before.
I get angry then I think to myself.........WHAT AM I DOING??????????
What is more important here? Debating? Or soul winning. I tell you what sister, PM's are the way to go. If you see someone and you want to ask them somthing or tell them somthing, PM them. I get ALOT of real good fellowship though PMing people and I can ask questions without being bombarded with others opinions or accusations.
I go into the grief forum sometimes but as for this one and the grief one, I stay out.
I have more peace that way.

I hear you and feel your frustration too.

Personally I stay in the areas that I moderate. Parenting, Marriage, Deeper Fellowship and here. I use to debate in some of the more spicy forums, but it turned out to be a stumbling block more than anything.

What is the point of debating amoungst other denominations? What it was turning out to be was to see who would 'win' or 'lose'. For what point? So someone could say that they were 'right' and they others were 'wrong'. What it really ends up saying is that one group is 'better' than the other because they have the 'right' understanding or belief.

For me, I stopped bebating for one reason and have chose not to go back for two. I stopped debating because of pride. Proving my points and my views seem to feed pride in my life. Since I could not keep pride in check, I gave up debating. I have chose not to go back to debating also because of pride. I do not want to give that a foothold in my life again.

The second reason is that I can't stand denominations and even more can't stand the wars between them. Denominations are for the most part created and multiplied by human pride. By the desire to be special, to have the 'right' understanding, to be unique, to show seperation from those who they disagree. That is why there are so many denominations and they continue to be made. I can not stand this. There are way too many people who want to make God fit the way they want to do things rather
than making thier lives fit God's ways.

So humans being who we are, and the fact that almost every denomination believes that thier understanding it the correct one, what is the purpose of debating? To win them over? To convert them? To show them that they are wrong?

For me debating brings out the worst in most people and thier denominations and there are better things to do with my time than feed that sort of environment.

I still post in the non-christian areas, but it doesn't bring near as much joy as fellowship I have with you believers. There are several atheists that exist only to make jokes and sarcasm. It's casting your pearls before swine to even attempt a sensible debate with them.

Thanks everyone for responding.

I was pretty upset the other night. I agree w/ the denomination "wars" issue, that's pretty rough. I have a hard time when someone who is completely non-christian tells me I can't use the bible in a debate on a Christian forum, that it's irrelevent. Funny that they think it's not relevent but they are on a Christian forum everyday! anyway...

I do believe it to be a stumbling block and will avoid those threads! Thanks again!

me too. i stay out of the "non-Christian" sections. Politics and general debate were getting to me. after taking time to try to convince others abortion is wrong, Bush is ok, etc..... I realized that it was taking time away from bible study for me. i was getting too involved and agitated! :)

Folks can be aggravating, can't they?!

Isn't it amazing how our precious Saviour loves us despite all of our shortcomings?
May we all learn to love as He loves!

God bless all you weary pilgrims! Take heart!! The future is as bright as the promises of God!

Sorry hun, as you know, I come from a family that enjoys "discussions". So I don't feel your pain on this one. However, I do get VERY annoyed with the liberal christians. You know the ones that say "I would never have an abortion myself 'cause it's wrong, but if someone else wants to do it then all the more power to them", or "I'm not a homosexual myself, but if someone else wants to live their life like that, then that's their decision". Basically, I hate the attitude of complete tolerance because they are afraid they might offend someone else. Those people irk me to no end. What ever happened to sticking to your guns and showing (in a loving manner) that their path is (obviously) against the will of God. *rolls eyes* I guess I just get tired of watching people submit to the bullies to avoid conflict.
