The reason why there are "fears" around certain entities restricting contraception access along with abortion, is because they've already pitched some of those types of ideas due to ignorance about what is and isn't "abortion".

There were people who put their ignorance on display when they they pitched ideas like trying to restrict/block access to "Plan B" which isn't actually an abortion, but rather a pregnancy prevention method that happens to be taken after intercourse instead of before.


It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that many of the efforts aimed at reducing abortion that are pitched by the GOP, are instead, efforts to discourage and/or punish sex occurring outside of the boundaries they deem to be "acceptable".

If they were all that interested in truly reducing abortions, "free condoms" and "free birth control pills and IUDs" should be at the top of their priorities list. When it's, instead, a push for "let's just tell people that sex should only happen in a heterosexual married relationship, and for the purposes of procreation", it makes their motives rather transparent.


And to clarify, I'm not what most people would consider "pro-choice" by progressive standards. The whole "my body, my choice...abortion at any time, and for any reason" isn't my cup of tea.

But if you're going to have that position, you have to give people a better option than "Keep it in your pants, no sex outside of marriage". That doesn't work lol. It doesn't work any better than if I went into an all-you-can-eat buffet and started lecturing people about portion sizes.

I'm blaming the designer. I know it was evolution, because you really want to make sure the sex drive is paramount for the survival of one's genes. But God didn't need to make it feel as good as it does and He didn't need to flood the body with testosterone and estrogen during the times when young men and women are least able to ignore their effects.

What we need is some scientist to release a virus that will render all women barren. Then, rather than having to take a pill to stop getting pregnant, they need to take a pill if they want to get pregnant. Problem solved.

They do this already any time they use the prefix Mrs. instead of Miss or mentioning they have a spouse.
