Well, you either believe or you don't. John 8:58

"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

Jesus thought He was God. As only God can take away sins, our sins are only gone if Jesus was God. And if he was a big liar and blapshemer against God, then what brought Him back from the dead?

What I be a Christian if I didnt believe that Jesus was G-d?? What if I prefer to believe that Jesus was a good man that died for my sins, etc and He was the Son of G-d but not really G-d. Would I be a Christian???

I dont believe this way because I am a Jew and I believe in Judaism, but I was interested in knowing......
Then you will be part to this verse in Zechariah's prophecy, knowing and understanding, perhaps too late. Only God can know and judge for sure.

Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Shalom,
The picture becomes more clear. So the story goes like this; G-d sends a Manifestation of himself :)confused: ) in the form of this jesus, who dies on a cross to pay for the sins of the world?

If so, does his death cover sins from past, present and future, in effect, becoming a super sacrafice?

Yes, He, Jesus, is our sabbath and rest from our own works of righteousness - the law fulfilled and made complete and Living as God's expression of love to mankind.
The Jewish people and the Church are brothers - Ephraim (Israel) finally found and returned from exile and Judah, the two houses of Israel.

Pslams 68:19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens. Selah

Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Lu 6:5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Mt.11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jer 31:31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-- 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Acts 13:23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

Isa 46:3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

Isa 37:31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

boychick, welcome to CF! Definitely check out the messianic forums, they will be able to better suit your questions as they know much more about the "Jewish aspect of Christianity". Than most Christians do. Also, a GREAT resource on the web for you is this page:

Good luck in your search for the answers! :)

I'll answer your questions as best as I can. They may not be the best you've gotten, but I'll try to help.
1. When she asked you if you have been saved, she was probably referring to if you've allowed Jesus to save you from your sins. In the Bible, Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." In verse 25a, it says, "God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood." John 3:16-17 states, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." Correct me if I'm wrong, but the understanding that I've gotten from studying Judaism is that you guys believe that blood sacrafices "save" you from that one sin or something like that. Well, what Christians believe is that Jesus was the perfect blood sacrafice. When that girl asked you if you were saved, she most likely ment did you ask Jesus into your life believing that He is the perfect blood sacrafice that saves you from eternal separation from God. :)

2. Sorry that I can't answer this question because I'm not sure who Joshua is. If that is another name for Jesus, then He is the perfect blood sacrafice and He is the "bridge" between you and God. Through Him, you don't have to do sacrafices anymore and you can know God personally.

3. If you mean number of books in it, there are 66 books in the Christian bible. I know there are a few more in the Roman Catholic bible, but I'm not sure how many more. Sorry.

4. The messiah rising from the dead is part of the basic foundation of christianity becuase this means that He was able to conquer death. :) He was crucified on the cross and three days later rose from the dead proving that He has the capability to conquer the grave. Luke 24:46-47 says, " He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." Jesus rose from the dead, conquering death and opening up a door to God for us. That's why that miracle is such a great miracle to us, because now we can go straight to God.

5. The trinity is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. They are all one...it's hard to explain and very hard for me to understand. They are all one as God. The Father sent the Son, Jesus, who when he assended into heaven after the resurrection sent the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit. Sorry...but I can't explain it any better...maybe someone else has a better understanding of it and can put it into words.

6. For us, the cross is a reminder of the penalty of our sins. Christ died on the cross for us and is now the bridge to God. The way I picture it is that God is on one cliff and we are on the other. There is a big huge bottomless pit between us, but when Christ died on the cross, the cross went into the gorge and we can now get to God. That's why the cross is so important to us, because without it, we wouldnt' be able to get to God right now.

Sorry if I didn't make things clearer, but I hope I could help a little bit with clearing this up. :)

Yup. The book of Hebrews (in the New Testament) explains it pretty well to Jews who were very familiar with the old sacraficial system.

The peace of the Lord Yeshua of Nazareth be with you.

1. You know the law, ie the ten commandments. Deu 27:26 "'Cursed be anyone who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' You have broken the law at least once, and so you are cursed. But Jesus, having committed no sins, is the spotless Lamb that God sent to sacrifice for our sins. Just as in Jewish tradition, the sins are transferred to the lamb, in this case Yeshua (Jesus), and he hung on the cross and died. Just like when Moses lifted up the brazen serpent in the desert, anyone who calls on Jesus Christ for salvation will be saved. Jesus fulfilled the law by being cursed for the disobedience of others, and giving us the blessing of God himself entering all believers in the form of the Holy Spirit, which is the most perfect overflowing gift ever. He is the eternal lamb sacrifice, and our eternal high priest.

2. Yeshua is the king, we just need to accept that. He proved his lordship by rising from the dead and through his miracles.

3. big enough

4. if he were dead, he couldn't be a high priest. but he is risen, and so he is our high priest, like Melchizedek, an eternal priest, offering himself as the sacrifice for sin.

5. Jesus said he is the I AM. He claimed to have a Father who he called God. That makes two. He said he would send the Holy Spirit, which he did, and that the Holy Spirit is God. So that's three. There's only 1 God, so they are one with each other - that's the trinity.

6. The cross is just the crucifix that the son of God hung from by nails in his hands and feet, taking our sins upon him and dying for them on the tree.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree

In short, Yeshua is everything. The all in all, and the only way to God.
