  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As for dating...I'll be honest and say that I am attracted to sensible girls. The type of girl who dresses smartly, has a quiet nature, is disciplined (yet assertive in her convictions), has a sense of humility, very studious etc. Let's just say our stereotypical anime school girl who shys away from boys and keeps to her books...like Kanade Tachibana, just without the wings and freaky powers :sorry:

I'm the opposite.

Reasons for that...opposites attract! I'm pretty much considered a rebel by my friends, I'm pretty loud and do attend parties. However none of the ''mainstream girls'' that I associate with attract me at all. I've found that dating someone who's very similar to me ultimately ends in disaster (I've had some relationships that I'm not too proud of sharing here...)

Perhaps deep down...I am a quiet and sensible boy, I surely would like to meet a girl who would bring out the inner me (well that was pretty deep).

I was thinking about why I liked my crush recently. We are so different and yet the same. It's like he is me and acts like I wish I could.

I'm shy, he's too confident, I don't care much for famous people and sport, he does, I wish I was good at sport and like to play for fun, he is good but not very enthusiastic about playing for fun.

I want to argue, he does, just about whatever I want to say he says it, my thoughts are his actions. I understand almost everything he does. His opinions and mine are very similar.

He is kind of like a mirror that exposes my mind. It has freaked me out before.

Amen to that. I myself am a loud girl(sometimes). At school I usually keep to myself. I discipline myself more than anyone else. I put myself to high expectations, and basically, if I don't meet that, I kind of kick myself over it. For me, it's my friends who tend to be "wild". I am the type of person that won't start drama, but I do have an attitude and when people mess with me, nothing good can happen:hahaha: But, I control myself:p

That's me.

You can already tell that I don't want a mainstream girl, and that she wouldn't be looking for a mainstream boy.

I didn't look and I still found, true I did kick myself when I realized what was happening.

My crush, he plays basketball, but when we became friends he became open to music. We talked a lot and he is open to learning about God, it's just he never gets to go to church. He moved about two years ago back to where he originally lived (even though that's less than half an hour from where I live). Yet, he is close to what I am like, but he isn't completely like me. I have been told he likes me too... Anyway, I mostly like him because he isn't like any other guy from my school. When I start getting into relationships, it isn't going to be with guys from my school (even though some of them are nice guys).

Sigh...looks like we have a similar story, that girl really loved music...

Suppose I'd better share my story here. When I moved to Beijing in 2010, I was encircled by the people you would expect in high school...rowdy, arrogant, egoistic individuals. The girls were all so superficial, wearing huge amounts of makeup to stand out. Finally I met a girl who showed humility, who cared more about personality than anything else. Guess she wasn't the prettiest out of all the preps (still very pretty in my eyes) but that didn't matter one bit...her good heart made her so beautiful.

Problem was that she was one grade below me. I was nervous about approaching her...lol, I was so immature at the time. I asked my closest friends to find out her name, guess that's how she perceived that I had feelings towards her. It was only well into the spring of 2011 that we got to know each other better, and she was set to leave to another country in June.

On her last day of school, we played piano pieces for each other. I always bragged about how great I was at piano (even though I've only been learning for 2 years) and I guess my amature playing skills made her giggle :). She played Ballade pour Adeline, I'm always reminded of her whenever I hear that tune...

It's been two years since she left...whether I had a crush on her is irrelevant at this point. What matters is that I met a girl who was truly different. I'll never forget about her...

Aww, your stories are so sweet. I don't really see anything that could bring us together, although if given the opportunity we will both argue, usually on the same side, about class topics. I really like his cheeky grin mixed with sharp wit, he makes me smile and often laugh.

Yeah, well he was always shocked because I didn't care what he looked like. And so, he decided to spend some more time with me during school (I guess haha). Anyways, he was a really sweet and caring guy. And I miss him a lot, *sobsob*, haha, but ya know the saying, if you love someone, let them free, and if they love you back, they will come back. So, I hope he comes back.

Pixar, The Blue Umbrella
Also a love story.
Shame I can't find the full clip.

I can't find it either, looks like Pixar has cracked down on all the videos (on Youtube at least).

Perhaps when Monsters University is released on DVD, The Blue Umbrella will appear on Youtube.

Me too, I really liked Monsters Inc (though it's been like a decade since I last saw it).

I found Paperman excellent on two fronts. The concept was very beutiful but the animation was gorgeous. Combining classical drawn and digitalised animation makes the short look very unique. That pretty much fits my style...I'm old school but I'm also of new animation techniques ^_^. I believe this will be the future of Disney's animation.

What I mainly find adorable about Paperman is that the man risks his job by throwing paper airplanes at the girl, who he barely knows, in the other office block to make her notice him. I found that scene quite touching...

I saw Paperman from Wreck it Ralph. I first thought that it was just be another cliched movie about video game characters, but I've found that it is one of the more original Disney movies. It's pretty much like the Toy Story for video gamers, like myself (I really liked the references such as the Konami Code lol).

1 (just guys) - Natural blonde or black hair, tall, lively eyes, nice smile and great personality. Physical appearances to me are fairly important, but I'm definitely not interested in narcissistic guys.

2 - I want a really fun, crazy, cheerful, witty, gentlemanly, intelligent, kind and really loyal man. He should preferably be a Christian but I don't want someone who is too religious either (no offence to anyone), that's my personal preference. :p

From my experience, it is usually boys who place physical appearence in such high regard. Girls tend to care a lot more about personality and character.

This is just personal but I would immediately break up with a girl if she admitted that the main reason she likes me is because of my looks, since the relationship would never work. Love through blind attraction is worthless and unstable, think about why most ''highschool romances'' fail. I've been in this situation, getting to know a very pretty girl who turned out to be so ugly inside...

I've had crushes on girls who might not have been the prettiest (though they've always been beautiful in my eyes), and some friends of mine ''dissuaded'' me from approaching them...I didn't care one bit, I wasn't going to live the life of someone else.

Define ''too religious.'' Is loving the Lord, your God, and following His laws ''too religious''? ;)

Haha, I actually already have the DVD. I don't watch many movies...when I say that I mean about 2 or 3 movies maximum a year. I watch far more anime ^_^

However I would like to see my old Disney movies, I love the feeling of nostalgia...

First, what attracts you to a man/woman (friendship and dating wise)?

Second, what do you look for in a future husband/wife?

For me, friendship wise, Its not hard for me to connect with someone. As long as they're respectful of themselves and I, honest and nice then I'll be their friend. No matter race, gender, age, ect.

As for dating/husband wise I think they'd have to have those qualities but they would have to be understanding and patient because sometime I can have a bit of a temper (when you get to know me) and I can push peoples buttons.
They would have to be funny yet mature if that makes sense. I almost instantly form a crush on a guy who can make me laugh without being rude or cruel..
They don't have to necessarily believe in the Lord, just as long as they're open and respectful to my views, as I would be to their's. I would highly hope that they don't believe in any other God, but, everything is in Gods hands so, if my future boyfriend/husband did believe in another God than God would probably deal with it.
They would have to be an animal lover because I can see tons of animals in my future.
I could go on and on but thats all I'm going to put for now, I think those are the most important. :D

I tell my friends that I always fall for the "ugly" ones. The girls at my school are only concerned with looks and if they play sports... The girls at my school have no idea how to correctly judge a person.
Anyways, I love Disney movies. They are da bomb:D

Good to see some more traffic here.

(*Nervous* Ha ha ha...)

My crush looks good and plays sport but that was not why I started liking him. He is quite smart and I like his personality, most of the time. ;)
