Friend Died

I am a 15 year old girl, and I am in desperate need of advice. My close friend was tragically killed when he was thrown from a truck going only 5mph over a speed bump...he was in the back and was thrown out.

Since then, I keep remembering how I passed out about a year ago. When I awoke, I felt as if I had been asleep....I'm wondering that if, when you die, you won't go anywhere....you'll just have the sleeping feeling I had when I passed out. I know some people say that when they have near-death experiences they see great lights and hear beautiful, melodic sounds. However, doctors explain that they are hallucinations caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Yet again, science has to go and make me doubt where I'm going to go upon my death.

I'm quite confused and unsure about what to do....I've never questioned my faith up until now. I'm just so scared that all death is composed of is a sleep that you never come out of. I remember that when I came to after my black out I didn't remember seeing any superior being or being wrapped in warmth. It was a scary feeling. Please help me...I know there are no definite answers, but I am hanging on ends at the moment.

Hi, ticklish086,
Sorry to hear about your friend. That's tragic indeed. But I just wanted to encourage you not to lose heart, because the Lord tells us that He had overcome death and so will we. I'm not a Bible expert or anything, but it teaches us that on the day of Jesus' coming those "who are dead in Chirst" will rise first and then those of us who are alive will be caught up in heaven to meet our Lord. And you know that the Lord is faithful and will do what He said he would. I believe that some people are dead right now, experiencing no hallucinations or anything. But the day will surely come when the Lord will breathe them back into life. So, please, do not despair!
Your brother in Christ

ticklish086,

There is life after death. Read this:

1 Thessalonians 4

15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

I also, hear that those who have died will not realize any length of time and will think they only just died when they are raptured up to meet the Christ in the air.

How wonderous is God.
