  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

a woman I go to school with had her pet monkey(yep) attack her this weekend. some friends of hers told me and I haven't been able to see her yet. this freaks me the heck out because,I held the monkey at a party where we went for some kids hospitalized. to recall the warnings by the staff and how they really didnt want her to bring her 'therapy' monkey in continues to blow me away today. her injuries are to her arms. she's lost skin to the bone.
anyone have a 'pet' monkey? being new on these forums i don't want to start a major pet battle but i'm so curious now as to monkeys and their sudden aggresion.

I hope your friend is okay.

I don't have a monkey, but I knew someone who did.

Hers ended up biting her too, and she had to get rid of it. It didn't really warn her or anything, just wound up biting her one day.

They are wild animals, even if they are tamed somewhat. They should not be kept as pets.

I read this and know you must feel confused because what you saw and held isn't the same animal that went wild.Monkeys are a very intelligent but jeckyl type of pet and they are better left in the jungle. You know many vets won't work on them for the sake of being bit but there are owners who swear by them and love them.It takes alot of work to get them to be tamed for many reasons. They are smart. I know this is odd but some owners remove the canines. This is so painful for the chimp and they can still do major damage to your face and body.
Is your friend surviving this unscarred? You mention to the bone so I assume they have her pet now in holding. I'd like to know what species monkey it was if you could pm me,or tell me here.

added a thought. any hospital that would allow a monkey in for any type of patient enjoyment needs their brains examined.really.:o
hope i'm not being too rough.

You're not being too rough.

The key here is "tamed" and not "domesticated."

Monkeys are, and presumably always will be, wild animals.

They should not be kept as pets and not brought round people as therapy animals.

That's actually very sad that the monkey was euthanized.

It was not the animal's fault that he reverted to his true nature.

I don't expect that you'll know the answer, but couldn't another resolution been found?

I mean, couldn't some animal rescue place have taken the poor beast in?

I hope your friend is fine both physically and mentally.

My aunt has a monkey. I've never spent much time around him though. Monkeys are particularly dangerous to humans because they can carry many of the same life threatening diseases as humans and they're prone to biting. They're wild animals and no one but a licensed wildlife handler should ever have contact with them. Therapy animals are dogs for crying out loud.
