  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Such a large group would follow rest of country in statistics. Nearly 250 million Christians in USA so it in reasonable to say over 10 million Christians are gay.
Close. But the estimates I've seen say that about 50% of gay people in the US are Christians. The number for the population as a whole is a bit over 60%. You could argue that gay Christians are likely underrepresented because Christians have more of an incentive to hide being gay, but I still wouldn't assume that the Christian population is identical to the population as a whole.

The sexual orientation numbers are complicated by the fact that many people aren't exclusively gay or straight. There is a spectrum with some leaning one way and some another, and some evenly balanced. That makes it hard to draw the line. 4.5% is reasonable if you include everyone whose orientation isn't traditional. This does not mean that 4.5% are exclusively gay.

Based on above information alone I strongly disagree with Franklin Graham. Christians should not "lay off Trump".
Franklin Graham never said "lay off Trump" but he did say "pray for him" ... and even that was condemned.

Graham said: "A lot of people are slamming evangelicals for supposedly giving Donald J. Trump a pass. That’s simply not true. No one is giving him a pass. I’m certainly not, and I’ve not met an evangelical yet who condones his language or inexcusable behavior from over a decade ago."

The last comment I read by Graham he was calling the border separation of children & parents "disgraceful" & "terrible".
