An American lecturing the French on responsibility, that’s pretty funny. You’re talking about a country where from the time they’re in school, kids will organize protests and march for their rights (and other people’s) because the entire national culture is that everybody is responsible for their country, and letting the government do what they like is a recipe for disaster. How many times have you marched for your rights? How many times have you actually done anything to oppose government laws or rules other than to complain on the internet?
Americans are generally huge on the principle of their personal rights, on what they want, and how things will effect them personally*. France is a country where people care about their countrymen and women, about systems that work for everyone and about fundamental rights for everyone. They even have a day where they work for free (if they choose to) to contribute to the pensions of the elderly.
So please don’t talk about the French not understanding responsibility, it’s a joke.
*Obviously this is a stereotype, in a country of 360m people, people don’t all think alike. But hey you started the stereotypes here.

French homeschool numbers have been increasing over the years. In efforts to end separatism, France is looking to stop homeschool except in rare cases and align even independent private schools with the same common core curriculum. This is in part to stop Islamic support for sharia law in France.
I am sympathetic to a point, but one extreme (sharia law) does not necessarily justify another extreme (loss of educational freedom).
