Nothing wrong about "taking stands" however how we did it was the problem. Its the attitudes are those who magnifies the faults of Erwin and attacking his character. When we argue and disagree, we will know what kind of a Christian each of us are and what kind of a heart we have. We always argue over things that we consider what appear to be "compromising" the Scriptures. A Christian life in this world should be different from the world, being in the world but not of the world.
I actually beg to differ, I was on this thread the entire time, and outside a few RUDE posts with some rude name calling, I think the majority voiced their anger or frustration/dissappointment very well!

The problem was you were just seeing alot of people one after one voicing it.
So after awhile, you took at as insults at him - probly becuz of the sheer number.
But EACH person who's a member HAD THAT RIGHT and even responsibility to voice it with the drastic change he made.
Alot of them were site supporters who spent their $$ here and felt shafted.
He removed the creed on 7-7-7, they were already angry at that. Then the next month he completely overhauls it look secular and shoved the Christians down to the BOTTOM of the site!

Lets not forget what a huge statement he made which made Christians here feel threatened.
Many left. He did that himself - not by majority polls they voted on (to make it even worse). Ignored their reply & did it anyway.

Please try to SEE why the uproar came & it was deserved. Most weren't rude or abusive tho.

Right. That is mostly what I observed as well.
(well that and some Christians bashing other Christians for taking a stand and leaving.)

Oh, I understand, if Erwin decided to change the "CHURCH" as an organization (keep in mind a Church is lead by a pastor). This forum is not a Church (even though people say it is) however "in spirit" we are "The CHURCH". The Christian walk is a fight of Faith, we have to understand that living (walking) by faith, we accept purpose and plans of God however He sees fit.

From my own perspective, I have no issue even though there were "flaws" in Erwin's approach to this. We all have flaws. We are still sinners but forgiven sinners who are NOT perfect.

Both sides, Erwin and US had our own faults. We didn't fully understood Erwin's intention and all we did was "assuming" based on how we interpreted Erwin's intentions. Both Erwin and us were basing on our own logic, assumption and reasoning. The problem was was that of all our accusations were unfounded. An argument which begs the question is one in which a premise presupposes the conclusion in some way.

Since I have your attention... and I appreciate your time, are you going to allow the demonic avatars and sigs to continue to be allowed? Especially by those identifying themselves with a Christian symbol while claiming to have been elected by God to be the bride of satan while displaying a demonic being in their sig?

Yes, there is such a situation here.

(as well as Wiccans etc., who display the pentagram for an avatar.)

Anti-Christian images are specifically not allowed - refer to Christian Principle Number 3 of the Foru.ms:
http://foru.ms/faq.php?faq=five_principles

A rule should be made based on that and the image should be removed. I think the moderator "meh" was looking into this a few days ago, hence why one of the Principles was clarified like it is.

Thank you for your expedient response. Wow! That was lightening quick. As far as I
know the sig file was still there yesterday, but maybe it has been dealt with by now.

Thanks again Erwin, and God bless.

There are official site "Pastors" here. And the site government was/(is YAY) the Word of God. So, although it may not have been a "Church", it was regarded as a particular ministry for many.

The reason no one knew the intentions is because they were not shared. No one received notification or a heads up of any sort. There were tons of unnecessary polls taking place and most came to the site and discovered the 12 hour note which was located at http://foru.ms

As well as then after the 12 hours signed in to "discover" the changes. There was legitimate chaos.
It was not the fault of the people. They were left with no choice but to draw their own conclusions.

I for one am glad this is all getting straightened out. It was a hard decision for most of us
when we decided to back off of the site. Some harder than others as many were here for years.

God bless.

I don't blame you or anyone else - something that should have had more explanation and done through a longer process or better change management was done in a very short space of time - I totally take the blame and responsibility - I've offended members and staff by my decisions in the past due to lack of communication and through misinterpretation of what I was actually trying to do - I try my best to communicate as much as I can, but I also need to spend time in the background doing the actual coding work. Remember, I have a full-time job, and I am doing a full-time Masters degree (I have 2 assignments due). :)

This discussion I am having with you Jim, was all about YOU, not about Erwin. YOU are the one I addressed in response to YOUR self righteous post (back on page 30 I think it is, my reply I believe is somewhere around page 37 or 38). (anytime I have mentioned Erwin, besides to point out that I forgive him, and I can see the evidence of his endeavoring to correct errors was because you said something I responded to)

As far as the rest of your post goes Jim,
I am hearing your cymbals clanging away...I am just not seeing
you demonstrating what you are saying and I haven't in the past few days regarding this topic.

Accountability involves "one anothers" in terms of those with similar beliefs. We all should desire accountability with others. This is where Paul write in Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Also in Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Galatians 6:2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

What kind of "accountability" are you expecting from Erwin? Or any of us?

Erwin, thank you for this response. The fact that you recognized some of the errs and you made haste to rectify them, says a lot to me about your character.
I know much from experience about the background coding and database maintenance etc., and do know how time consuming it can be.
It seems to me that you are the type of person who, like me may make what might be regarded as big mistakes, but you learn your lessons very well though because of them. Am I right about that?
I am sure that if something like this were to take place again, that you would delay the change until you could take the time to communicate. (which is what I am gathering from your response). I am certain the whole community would appreciate that.

Be well and God bless,
IamRedeemed

I am not perfect, and if you ask my wife, she will tell you I make plenty of mistakes over the 7 years we've been married. ;)

I would try. :) Mind you, I think this site has had enough changes over the past 7 weeks to last it the next 5 to 10 years. :)

Yes, well, none of us are but some people would opt to offer the 'like it or lump it' speech rather than make haste to make corrections, (even when they know they have erred).
What you have done and what you are saying, separates you from those who would offer that speech. :D

LOL! Well I should hope so!! hahahaha!

Thanks again for taking the time to talk with me on this. I really appreciate it. And thank you even more for the corrections you made haste to put into action.

Be well and God bless.

Erwin, Id like to repeat my sentiments from elsewhere....
GOOD JOB !

As a follower of our risen Lord NOTHING of the changes is a threat to MY beliefs. As far as Im concerned many of these changes are for the better as far as letting the world in even more to this community and given us even more opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with them.

Ive seen the many logos that someone has apparently done a LOT of work on, that should let any of the naysayers here see that it was not your intent to remove Christ from these forums, but seemingly was to bring in even MORE unbelievers who might be witnessed to.
