  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That doesn't matter. It is assumed that a woman who is not married or engaged was a virgin.

Not to him and not to anybody else.

Like many other cultures, the ancient Hebrews said that a man had to pay money to the father of the bride.
And while people say laws are not required today most of the laws in the old testament are for the isrealites/Jews since they have something different about them that can ruin them in God's eyes I think..but even so like I said before I really believe people can use God's laws sometimes to make those things come to pass on purpose..I believe there are wicked people out there....

That's why It's a situation by situation discernment not a blanket of "drugs bad". Because the difference between using a drug for sin and using it as medicine for healing is determined by who's using it for what purpose and how much.
Alcohol is a sin when drank in excess to get drunk, but it's also a good solvent for medicines, so you might have a small teaspoon of alcohol with medicine dissolved in it. Did you get drunk? No. Is it sin? God is more discerning than that. The Lord pondereth the hearts.
Yes God looks at our hearts but there's a reason we are to stay pure clean and holy...nothing unclean can enter heaven. God is holy. That's why the dogs will remain on the outside of it. Though harlots can be forgiven and enter it. It is not a place for striptease thereafter...lol rev 22:11

so again masturbation is not needed. Schools even doctors recommend it as an alternative to unprotected sex. It's their abstinence program basically so you will only find out positive stuff out there on it. But it's actually very unheathy for a host of reasons I mention. I for example have not done so in about 13 months, and have only had maybe 2 or 3 wet dreams the whole time. So God knows what He is doing, he is not going to create a male sex organ then make it overload with sperm for example. That is not the way God works. The body naturally discharges it when need through urine as well as other methods I mention. But it's not unhealthy to refrain from lusting with infinite amounts of online women, via pornography. Simply because you are wanting your fix in. Pornography is actually very violent and demeaning to women, and God desires us to honor them as a sister in Christ.

You keep going back to pornography. I'm not defending pornography.
"Works on my machine" anecdotal evidence is not reliable, you might only have 3 wet dreams in a year of celibacy, but someone else might have wet dreams every week when they're abstainant.

It's the porn that's harmful, not the masturbation itself.
Honestly, the last person a single man wants to listen to about what they should do, while still being single to deal with wet dreams and sexual urges, is a married man. Telling single men to go take a cold shower at 3am and starting a load of laundry when they wake up in an embarrassing mess while you can just regularly have sex with your wife and avoid such things.
Paul didn't say take cold showers to deal with sexual urges, He said get married.

Well deal with your fetishist in a Christ honoring manner and I think we can all agree Jesus would not touch.

I don't think the bible would go into detail about the wet dreams of Jesus either.

so are you claiming to be totally celibate not having sex with your wife and you just take cold showers or something?

you assume he had wet dreams. But since the Bible doesn't say, we can't assume. So again there is no scripture saying Jesus even remotely supports acting in lust or fantasy to get off in the form of masturbation. And with that I will finish this conversation. I think you simply just want to feel better about your sin. And I don't care if you do or do not touch, that's none of my business. But don't go on a christian forum and try to tell others it's okay biblically.

Now that we took care of the spiritual forbidding of masturbation, lets look at the health of it.

Many think there is nothing wrong in masturbation, (look but don't touch methodology), but something called TMS, occurs when it is done daily for years. TMS= traumatic masturbatory syndrome is a real problem in marriage. There is a lot of misinformation out there online about it. You have to go to the peer reviews to get the facts, I wouldn't google search it. Society looks at masturbation as it's only solution for abstinence training, and it views TMS as a threat to that, so most articles limit the scope of what causes TMS. Basically overstimulating yourself, makes it so you can't enjoy real people (or the marriage bed). There is solid evidence for that. Here is an article that mentions " masturbating daily for years" as something that can cause TMS. "The distinguishing features of the masturbatory style include a prone position and daily masturbation over a period of years. " (click here for medical citation). The Journal of Psychiatry Volume 18, Issue 4 states: "Masturbation is abnormal when it is the only type of sexual activity performed in adulthood, when it frequency indicates a compulsion or sexual dysfunction, or when it is consistently preferred to sex with a partner [1]." Psychologists realize that doing it too often is a problem, but to many it's an addiction that they cannot stop. The same Journal also says: "Compulsive masturbation does not have a distinct code in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders... but can be classified as other specified sexual dysfunction [2]." The Journal goes on to say that if you touch more than seven times a week, you could be treated for a sexual dysfunction attributed to compulsive behavior. The Journal mentioned a teenage boy with this dysfunction and said that if it goes untreated it could cause one to be "withdrawn," affect their "grades in school," and affect their known relationships with "other people." See the problem is that it's a sexual addiction. But it's not to be treated with drugs as the article suggests, but a christian counselor, pastor, or christian books & seminars. (I have read a book and watched a seminar, and read many blogs.) There are practical steps you can take that I mention here, you can do this all alone, you and God without a doctor. This addiction if left untreated can carry on into adulthood: Many live in what is called (sexless marriages), where men have retrained their stimulus to react only to masturbation and not to sex. There is no cure for this, other than reducing the stimuli. Which means no porn, and no masturbation. No fantasy. If you live in a fantasy world, and your mind remembers the fantasy world, its very hard to enjoy plain old wifey. And this is a universal problem. Marriages all over the country are having this issue. Women that are drop dead gorgeous have husbands stuck in porn. Because of the fantasy problem. And the addiction to it. TMS sets in and the marital bed is finished. But as with any addiction, the blood of Jesus can set us free.

Why do you always project it on me?
I gave scenarios that were not me.
I read nothing in the bible about the physical act, whatsoever.
You also didn't answer the question, so you come across as a hypocrite. Telling other people to take cold showers while you get your release by having sex with your wife.

This act of disciplining yourself will trickle into other areas as well. When the Lord delivered me from porn five years ago, I also noticed he delivered me from other areas, homosexuality, self gratification, over eating, he even made my work ethic at home and my job both better. He lit a fire in me that I could not do myself. I have lots of short comings, and am by no means perfect. But getting over five addictions by the power of the gospel, allows me to tell you that there is something better for you than self gratification that is if you are active with it). Now even if you were dating someone, it does not get easier. It actually gets harder. So the discipline you use to keep yourself from self gratification, or porn or one or the other, will double as a strength you can bring into a dating relationship. You as the man, are to be a spiritual leader. That means not using the 'dating status' as a reason to constantly make out with her, to defraud her, and to fornicate with her. Even without penetration it's still fornication, as I revealed earlier in this thread. Any sexual activity outside marriage is sin. The Bible says in 2 Timothy to treat younger women as our sisters. If you would not fantasize over your mother, or your sister while self gratifying. Then don't do it to other women. Because the Bible says we are to treat younger women as sisters and older women as mothers in the Lord 'with all purity.' So like I said, use this time of testing as a way to strengthen you in other areas as well. Once I rededicated my life to the Lord, and repented off all sin. Not just self gratification, but I was steeling small items from work, like ear plugs and stuff. I was speeding in my car, I was not honest on taxes. It's amazing all the little sins we let slide. But all sin brings death. Then as I started going the speed limit, being pure online, being less flirtatious with women at church or work, reducing stimulation- everything got better. So again before you enter a relationship, where your purity will be tested, it's important to not be living off fantasizing with women online. For one that is very hurtful. And I can't imagine self gratifying and not having fantasy. It goes both ways, with the fantasy comes lusting over other people. So it's all very sinful in general. IF Jesus said that merely looking at a women with lust, is sin. They would would self gratifying and thinking of having sex with a woman be any better?

Where's the verse where Masturbation is declared sin itself.
The soldier deployed away isn't using porn or lusting after other women, He's thinking of his wife.

What you're doing is basically making something guilty by association, even when there's no specific scripture against something you're declaring it sin because it can often be connected with sins.
Porn and lusting after people that aren't your wife are wickedness, you'll get no argument from me on that.
But this is like declaring taking a medicine cup of Nyquil to be sin because it contains a little bit of alcohol and alcohol is connected to drunkenness which is sin.
If you're viewing pornography and lusting after other women and using that to touch, it's the porn and the lusting where you sinned, you already crossed the line while your pants are still zipped up.
How many times did Paul have an opportunity to declare masturbation sin and just, not say anything about it?
Was masturbation something only discovered in the last 100 years or something, is that the explanation?

again sir, masturbation relies on fantasy, that is literally what turns a person on in order to have [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], I am sort of disturbed i have to explain this to you. Masturbation involves fantasy of a women not your wife. There are health reasons listed above why even married people should not engage with this activity. MAtthew 5:28 forbids looking at a woman in lust. Masturbation involves more than that.

Addiction is not the end...View attachment 277388

I think you and I, are talking about completely different situations.
You're talking about someone who's masturbating daily looking at pornography. I'm talking about someone not using pornography or lust, but is far away from home and their wife, or, some young man who's single and just doesn't want to have wet dreams doing it once every few weeks or so. You said you don't get those, congratulations, not everyone's body is the same.

again sir I have addressed the military person already, just read the thread. Now let me address the person who is using masturbation as an alternative to wet dreams. I would ask them some pointed questions. Like what are his favorite movies, and how his social media habits are. Again touching yourself involves fantasy. YOU CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT FANTASIZING OVER A WOMAN. That involves lust at the very root of it. A wet dream is a subconscious thing that is done out of your control. If you don't like wet dreams first of all I would pray that God take them away, then secondly I would look at what images you are putting in your mind. There was a tv show on netflix that I loved, and it was pg13, but it had too many sex scenes, women disrobing and mounting a man in lingerie, passionate kissing, etc. And this was not porn, but it was enough to get my mind working. Then after those images, I had fed the beast. I was now able to fantasize over being that male in the motion picture. See when you see an image online or in a movie, your brain uses something called Our brain has mirror neurons. That means that when a monkey has electrical leads attached to it, and if they see someone else pick up a peanut, it will trigger the neurons that actually tell the arm to pick up a peanut himself, even though he is not there by the peanut. That is what mirror neurons do. So the neurons also help you learn. I work on my car and watching tutorials on youtube really helps me to learn how to fix certain things because the mirror neurons put me right there in the video, doing it ahead of time. That is why movies are so successful. And that is also why pornography is so addicting. But there is something to know about bad things we watch. The more emotion tied up in the video, for example extremely violent or extremely sexual video's your brain retains more of it. That is why someone can be free from pornography for years and still have images in their brain. Sexual exaggeration as implied by pornography is so unrealistic, that it affects how you see yourself, and how you see others you love. It also affects how you treat others you love. Now you are saying that pornography is not an issue, but that depends on how to define pornography. See when I was watching that sex scene, it was pornographic, even though there was no nudity. Porn means to greek porneia which means any sexual sin. So watching a couple kiss, and being turned on tot it, can be pornography. That is why I posted that bible study on "fornication" because fornication is the english derivative of porneia. So again I would pray for one, that alone may solve the issue right off, and then see what the person that struggles with lust is putting in their mind. I was eroused by simply watching a disney movie that had a young woman as a evil ring leader, she was not nude, but she was younger and coupling that with a fictitious and intelligent person, made her seem mature for her age, and that was provocative. I stopped watching it. TBH I don't watch movies anymore, and if I do I screen it through at least two parental guides. I know every kissing scene, every F word, every violent act. I know it all ahead of time, so no surprises. And if it's too sexy, I just won't watch it. On social media, I blocked a woman this week that simply had too pretty of a face. Again images can really stick in your mind, she was not doing anything wrong or immodest, but she had too pretty of a face, and I could tell if I saw her in my feed I would be tempted to linger longer than necessary. I have sooo many christian women blocked, simply for being too pretty. I have others blocked that reveal a little too much in their profile pictures. Again you have to maintain your brain. What goes in, goes out. If sex goes into it, you will dream about it, and think about it all the time. I know younger men have more testosterone than middle age men like me, and older men. But that is why you need to reign in your lust at a young age. If I had conquered the idea of touching yourself in my 20's I would not have had 3 failed engagements to marry, and several women would not have rejected me and broke up with me, simply because I was too physical.. There were other reasons too, like not having a good enough job to marry. But when I was too physical, it just expedited the breakups. I think if we were pure, there would have been no hurry to marry, and thus more time to finish my career training . So again the more pure you can be as a young man the better, and if you can reign in the lust issue as a young man, there is little that you can not accomplish. Focus on college, or career schools, work hard land your job, then dating becomes a little more straightforward, at that point you have a goal. Dating in highschool is just dating to date. No goal. And that is where temptation looms.

No I think you're coupling 1 act to another. Like I said you're going guilty by association. You're calling using rubbing alcohol to clean a wound sin because alcohol can lead to drunkenness and drunkenness is sin.
Btw praying to not have wet dreams IE not having any need to purge old sperm from the body is like praying to not have to urinate or eat or defecate or have a period as a woman, it's just the way God designed our bodies. Prayer isn't going to take away those biological needs in this life.
Lastly, let me dispel this crazy idea that having sexual thoughts of your own wife is sin. Too many Christians think sex is this borderline sinful act that should only be done for procreation when God created it as a gift to be enjoyed in marriage.

Proverbs 5:18-19
heck the entire book of Song of Solomon..

again masturbating utilizes lust, again Jesus said even if you look at a woman in lust you are committing adultery, so masturbation is far beyond just a mere look. So again that verse literally disproves it. So I am concluding that aspect of this talk because you simply cannot refute God's word itself. Now on to your next point. Masturbation reduces sperm. Again the body does not need to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. There is some evidence that frequent masturbation can reduce chance of prostate cancer. But those are all self reported data, which is subjective. But mainly science reveals that excess sperm is reabsorbed into the body, it breaks down and is reabsorbed and re-utilized. If you get rid of it, those proteins need to be replaced. Which is okay, but just saying that if you go without masturbating your body uses those proteins in other muscles.

"If a male does not [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] sperm, the body eventually breaks down and reabsorbs them."
How long does it take for sperm to regenerate? Development time

TBH most adult men desire to have a longer libido and desire to last longer in bed, so masturbation goes against that goal. And the studies I posted prove masturbation actually is the leading cause of erectile dysfunction in young men.

again masturbating utilizes lust, again Jesus said even if you look at a woman in lust you are committing adultery, so masturbation is far beyond just a mere look. So again that verse literally disproves it. So I am concluding that aspect of this talk because you simply cannot refute God's word itself. Now on to your next point. Masturbation reduces sperm. and if your body just reabsorbs it, why are wet dreams so common then.
You're not lining up with biology.
as to the prostate cancer link, that makes sense, as the reproductive tract, like the urinary tract and digestive tract, are meant for moving things through them, if you retain stuff there it can lead to cancer. Bowel irregularity can increase your risk of colon cancer, dysuria can increase risk of bladder cancer, and not [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] can increase risk of prostate cancer.
You have a puritan view on a subject that is not even in the bible, I can't use scripture to defend something that is not even once mentioned in the bible, but you're trying to call something not once mentioned in the bible sin.
My main argument on what you're associating is that PORN causes the damage not the act of masturbation itself. Masturbation as far as the body is concerned, is not really distinguished from sex, so unless you're going to say that sex, wet dreams, or any other source of [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] causes the same ED symptoms, you don't really have any biological or medical ground to stand on with those claims. However viewing porn most definitely causes harm, THAT is documented. People who view pornography run into an issue where the porn that excites them now loses its novelty so they seek newer and more hardcore things, get into fetishes and more and more extreme and dirty stuff. How are they going to get an erection just from being with their wife when to their brain they've been tricked into thinking they've made lovers with hundreds, thousands of women that might be better looking than her and doing wilder more exotic things than the wife will do with a man? Porn is a trap, a sin that compounds other sins, the actors involved in it often are completely wrecked as people abusing drugs and getting into crime on top of their acts of adultery and fornication and lust, and the viewers are enabling those wicked lifestyles and damaging their own mind viewing it. It can often lead to homosexuality, pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia, snuff, it's a pitfall of sin.
I want you to realize that NOWHERE will I defend pornography.
But I can't condemn something that is not in the bible and described as sin.

Sir again that was a doctor that wrote that article, but you can google search it yourself. The body absorbs sperm. Wet dreams are most likely an issue of amount of testosterone and the inputs of the mind. For instance if you watch rated R movies all day, then you will start to dream about it. Because our dreams are a product of what we feed ourselves while awake. The amount of testosterone is important because as you get older that tapers off and older men simply don't think about sex as much as younger men due to the gradual lessening of testosterone. That is why if that part of your life is important, you can get testosterone supplements as an adult, and it rejuvenates your libido. So again I can find more articles for you, but you can just as easily look it up. Just google search "excess sperm gets reabsorbed into body" to find more articles, it has dozens. Also on that list I found a concept called sperm retention.... it is becoming popular among men to sort of rejuvenate themselves.... here is a link for more info on that:
What's the Deal with sperm Retention?

One thing I'd like to point out in my experience, and where one of my hypothetical situations comes from, was when I was in the navy, in boot camp. The first few weeks there wasn't anything, probably due to the heightened stress everyone was under, but as people adapted to the situation, people recruits would excuse themselves to the bathroom at night to "crank one out", just because having a wet dream in an open barracks was a far more embarrassing thing that could happen, and you couldn't shower on your own, if you had a wet dream, you were just going to stink like sperm all the next day until the evening shower.
There was no rated R movies, no sexuality, the only exposure to any women whatsoever was barefaced female recruits that were just as haggered from sleep deprivation as we were, trust me, totally unappealing. There was no porn, no sexy billboards or magazines, no sex laden tv shows, there was none of that. It's boot camp, the only time you get off to do anything aside from learning, drilling, and PT, is at lights out to sleep, and on sundays to go to church and read letters from your family and maybe write a few back.
... and wet dreams were still a common thing and feared in that setting so the young men masturbated, with no aid from porn, or any visual stimuli, just to get it out of their system in a way they could control, vs having an uncontrollable and humiliating experience, and even once you were out of boot camp, you had male roommates "doing your thing" in the bathroom when you have some time alone.. was just preferable to waking up in the middle of the night.
It's not always r rated movies, porn, or sex in entertainment, sometimes it's just your body needs to get rid of something and stop holding it in.
It's not even enjoyable in that setting. It's just like having to go to the bathroom to defecate, maybe a relief when it's over but something you didn't really care to do.
If you've been married for a long time you probably forgot about having to deal with such things. Especially if you got married at a young age.
But I can virtually guarantee you, there's not a single young man alive, Christian or not, that doesn't either touch, fornicate, or deal with wet dreams at least a couple times a month.
Nobody just goes completely without [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] 24/7/365. Just like defecating, it's something your body will do whether you want it to or not, and your only real choice is do you do it in a toilet where it can be gotten rid of cleanly, or do you crap your bed.

well again baby wipes would be a great way to wash up, and a change of shorts. I mean you have to change after getting up anyway, right? But I know how hard it is to be a young man in the world. I am not saying don't do it. I am just saying that I would seek the Lord and try to do things His way not your own.
