  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well again baby wipes would be a great way to wash up, and a change of shorts. I mean you have to change after getting up anyway, right? But I know how hard it is to be a young man in the world. I am not saying don't do it. I am just saying that I would seek the Lord and try to do things His way not your own.
um.. where would you get the baby wipes.. this was boot camp. Nobody had babies in the barracks. You didn't have access to a lot of shopping, you had a very limited Navy Exchange store that was basically like a convenience store size. biggest thing that we got from there is calling cards for the phones if we ever got to make phone calls and Dr Scholl's inserts for our boots that were absolutely killing our feet I'm sure you could imagine, steel toed boondockers aren't the most comfortable to wear.
anyway, just had to point out that there's just a biological need there, I know you say you don't need sex or to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] but if your body will do it on it's own whether you want it or not, that'd constitute a need.
I think it's important to recognize that I agree that most of the time the act is done it's done in a sinful manner, with pornography driving it, but there are a few exceptions to that, and because of those exceptions, I think it was intentionally left out of scripture. Nowhere in the bible does it tell you you aren't able to touch your own body as you see fit. It just tells you not to lust and fornicate.
and I'll 100% agree, avoid pornography. That's the biggest one. I have heard of people who just literally get into homosexuality, and transgendered, and they didn't start out gay, they just developed such a horrible addiction to porn and it drove them to weirder and weirder fetishes till they went to these extremes. I've been on some discords and I have asked why are you into this when did they become gay? and it's always a porn addiction that funnels them down to that.

ok so your saying that it's okay to lust, because wet dreams cause a mess and you have no way to clean yourself up? That does not like a good enough reason to sin. In heaven when we give an account of our life, imagine telling God. I had a wet dream Lord, and it was messy. You know how I don't like messes Lord, sticky and such. So I sinned every day so that I didn't do it. You know what He would say? Stop lusting in the day light hours and wet dreams will go away in the night time hours. We all have lust. I am a grown middle age man and I have lust. But I have to fight it, I don't ever say. Hey I am a man with sexual needs so I am just going to give in. I will never say, my inner child wants to run when I am stressed at boot camp, masturbating is my happy place, so I will run there every time. No you can't do that. If you make lust your go to place to relieve stress, then it will only feed your addiction. Rather find another outlet to reduce stress, go to the gym. Go for a run. Go watch a movie. Whatever.

First who said anything about lust, it was like taking a dump, just something you did to get it out of your system, you know you can get erections without any sexual stimuli right? Weren't you ever a teenage boy in school having random erections that would be embarrassing to stand up in front of the class with?
You don't need lust, it's just a physiological response.
There is NOTHING sexy about jerking off in a stall in in the middle of the night in an all male environment. It's like a chore, but everyone did it because the alternative would be worse.
Second I don't think I hit this home for you enough. We're talking about a situation where there is NOTHING TO LUST OVER in your life. NO stimuli. Yet biology is biology so you still have a physiological need.
Until you can unchain a physical act from the sins that are ASSOCIATED with it in the mind, we're going to be at an impasse.
Finally, nobody said anything about every day, maybe it was every day for you, for me it's a lot less frequent than that. In the boot camp situation? maybe once every 2 weeks, nobody WANTED to do any more than that.
You're a married man, you don't have the same situation going on, don't pretend like you do.
If God wanted to condemn masturbation there was plenty of room to do so in the bible, but it's not, not a single time. There's no mention of "thou shalt not touch thy loins, it is an abomination". Nothing like that at all.

This series is worth a watch

ok so your stroking yourself, thinking about taking a dump. Sir that is not masturbation, and niether will that reduce your sperm count. Masturbation according to the definition involves lust over having sex. It's actually a form of safe sex by definition. I don't watch links, video's, or follow other links other than peer review from google scholar. I presume you don't have such evidence, so if you want to use whatever evidence the video has, you must repost it here. But thinking of sex as just a biological function (to get it out of your system), is probably the most harmful way you can view your body. Sex is far more than just a biological function. sperm is not evil, you don't need to get it out. It is perfectly fine to just let it accumulate, and those that are not used are simply reabsorbed into the body. But anyway, I have several debates going on, so this will be my last post to you. I can tell you like whacking off, and to you it's like taking a dump. Well I would pray about that sir, it's not just a biological function, it's a spiritual act. Even looking at someone in lust is a spiritual act. And masturbation is far above that. but anyway, I have provided ample evidence here, for other readers. I can see I can't convince you yourself about this act, and that is fine. That is not the point . But to just put out the studies out there, and make sure people know that masturbation is fornication according to the Bible.

If sperm will come out of your body whether you will it to or not, it's not something that you just let accumulate, it is a biological function.
You cannot stop yourself from urinating or defecating, the only way God would answer a prayer for those things would be for you to suddenly drop dead.
A woman can't stop herself from menstruating (outside of having a hysterectomy)
A man can't stop himself from [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] (outside of having the prostate removed)
You can say "you shouldn't be ashamed of wet dreams" is like saying "you shouldn't be ashamed of bedwetting" or crapping your pants or having a period but not having a tampon or pad for it. Yeah those are all things that will naturally happen if you don't take any control over them and anticipate them.
If I liked masturbating I'd do it all the time, rather than once every few weeks just when I feel like if I don't, I'm gonna be woken up in the night.

as for the video series, it's a shame, the guy goes over how there is a lot of scripture about lust and fornication in the bible but NO scripture in regards to masturbation, it also goes over how Paul isn't like you, telling people to just pray their sexual needs away or take cold showers, but Paul's advice was to get married, which is obviously the optimal solution. But if you're not in a position where getting married is possible (military boot camp, deployment, disabled, still in high school etc), masturbation is a less than optimal, but possible to do without sin way to manage your body if you feel a need to.

In the bible having long hair as a man is more of a sin than masturbation.. cause at least there's scripture on that

sir you can make excuses all you want about it. Find video's and teachers etc. But ultimately touching yourself relies on lust (you are fantasizing over another person). If Jesus said to even look with lust is sin, then fantasy with lust is even more a sin. As it is manifesting itself physically. Anyway, I have explained this repeatedly. However you want to do it. So ultimately that sin will come upon you in the form of a curse. It will curse your life in one form or another, I already mentioned that using your hand to stimulate will cause erectile dysfunction in young men, numerous studies on this. Again going against God always has a curse. I pray you repent sir.

It doesn't rely on lust though. You keep thinking that. It can be done without lust.

Ok, so if you are not thinking about women then the lust part is ok, BUT it's still a sin because it causes erectile disfunction. Do you think God wants your sex organ to literally fail? No. That is the curse attached to it. IF you use lust, then there are additional curses attached to it. Do you know how many christian women have divorced their husband from porn use? But scratch all of that, we are talking about stroking ourselves just for pleasure. Again the sin is because it's literally unhealthy. So when you get married you literally cannot ever have kids without external medical help. If that is what you want, then go for it, whack it all day. But God sees you. And God knows that the body is the temple. That organ has a specific use that God created for it. And you are misusing it. The pleasure is God's reward for the marriage bed. It's not even supposed to be used till marriage. I have provided several medical journals that indicate that one does not need to discharge their sperm it will be reabsorbed. So there is no use, other than just for pleasure. And that is again a sin because you are literally making yourself sterile if you to ever get married. It can be healed but again that is six months or a year or two later. If that is what you want, then no one can stop you.

It doesn't cause ED.
Porn does, but as far as your body is concerned masturbation is no different than a wet dream or having sex. It's just stimulating the nerves for a physiological response, the same physiological response.
Porn causes ED as I stated before because it affects your mind, you get used to the same things over time so you develop a need for more extreme stuff to arouse you. That's the pitfall and it bears the marking of Satan working on people.
Let's also consider for a moment convictions of conscience. If you're lusting, if you're viewing porn, after masturbating you feel guilty, shame, you know you've sinned. The same conviction does not follow when not using porn, if you're just doing it in the bathroom. I did struggle with pornography, and there was a CLEAR difference in a lack of guilt when I stopped using porn, when I just remembered "how did I ever do this in boot camp?" and you realize, you didn't need porn, just the touch stimulation was enough, it's not enjoyable, you're not fantasizing about anything, but it alleviates the pressure

again sir you didn't read the medical citations. What is pornography w/o masturbation? It's nothing. Masturbation is a stimulation that is not like vaginal penetration. Nothing really is similar at all. Typically one who is masturbating will climax relatively quickly and this is because they have reprogrammed their stimulus to accept that type of feeling. With a marital bed you can slow down and hold off to make it last longer and longer, so that both will climax. There is really no comparison. Then when they meet up with a real person they are inefficient. They are not able to maintain an erection with a real woman because they have programmed their body to react only to their hand. When I was self gratifying I got to the point where I could climax so quickly it did not even have time to get an erection. THAT IS NOT GOOD! That means your body realizes that it doesn't need to make an erection because it realized you will just climax anyway. This is disregardless of porn. So again doing unhealthy things is a sin. If drugs are sinful simply because they are unhealthy, then so to if masturbation is the leading cause of erectile dysfunction in young men, and if it's God's will that we be fruitful and multiply. Then masturbation is going against God's will .

Well if God wanted me to have children He wouldn't have made me a cripple with hereditary diseases.

But beside the point, pornography is nothing without masturbation? Are you kidding? Pornography is lust that isn't even in the imagination anymore, and drives people to acts of fornication and adultery. Pornography is a huge source of human trafficking and is a cause of misery even among the performers, especially when it drives down to child pornography where children are manipulated or forced into these acts with adults and it physically can cause them a lot of pain and lasting physical and psychological harm. You're comparing THAT as not being as bad as touching yourself willingly? I've found no medical literature that masturbation causes ED btw, only old wives' tales and myths.

You have to boil down why is fornication and adultery sin, why is lust sin. It's because it causes us harm and turns a gift from God into a vehicle of suffering, an insult to the Almighty who gave the gift. It's to be an act of love and creating families.
But outside of marriage, it creates unwanted children who are not raised right and spiral into a lifestyle of further sin for generations, it creates children that are often killed off either in abortion in the modern days or infanticide/human sacrifice to molech in earlier days.
It is also a vector for disease, the more sexual partners you have the more likely you are to spread disease.
and finally, outside of a loving marriage, sex can be weaponized and used as a means of violence and control, taking something good that God made and using it directly for evil.
Now why are lust and pornography sin?
Because they steer people into acts of fornication, rape, and adultery, and as I said earlier, production of pornography is destructive to people's lives, spreading disease, they ARE acts of fornication or adultery, many fetishes rely on violence in the act, most of the "actors" are addicted to drugs and pursue other crimes and sins as a part of that lifestyle, they may go homosexual as part of their "career".
the story of one of the most famous pornographic actors, John Holmes, is pretty telling in all the ways that Pornography destroys people. He was born in a broken family, in an adulterous affair with an alcoholic stepfather. He later got married THEN started doing porn films (so right off the bat he's committing adultery), some of the films he was in were homosexual in nature his wife would later find out, he got addicted to cocaine, was dealing drugs as well, and as a result of some drug dispute, participated in the murder of four people. He later contracted HIV, but was still continuing to act in pornographic films, unprotected, and probably infecting a lot of other people before his health nosedived and he died of AIDS. So even just in the production of pornography you see a man committing adultery, homosexuality, drug abuse, and murder, and the harm that results the destruction of his own body and the spreading of disease.. and it all started with an act of adultery.

So you can't tell me pornography is nothing without masturbation.
You also when you claim that vaginal sex and masturbation are not physiologically the same and that in fact masturbation is harmful where vaginal sex is not, it's like you're encouraging fornication as the better option if given that or masturbation, and that is wicked.
Masturbation by itself does not spread disease, it does not create children in broken homes, it does not create violence against other people. About the only way it by itself is sin, is that it's wasting time you could be doing something else good, the same way playing a video game, watching a movie or TV show, or reading a book that isn't the bible is sin when you could be doing something for God.

But lemme guess it'll cause blindness and hair to grow on people's palms as well?

well again some are made eunics by birth that is what the Bible says. But if that is your calling, then masturbation is not for you to begin with, secondly it's still a sin. Because what if God healed you today and you went out and got married and you would be not in a state to where you could perform your marital vows.

But beside the point, pornography is nothing without masturbation? Are you kidding? yes, 99 percent of all those sins start at the gateway drug of masturbation. Imagine looking at porn and not being able to perform with those images you are imagining, it would be torture. If touching yourself was never a thing, I think pornography would not be so addicting simple because of the chemicals released, are the same chemicals released when you are high on drugs. That is why it's addicting. So pornography would be nowhere without it. It may still exist, but it would not be addictive chemically.

You're comparing THAT as not being as bad as touching yourself willingly? I've found no medical literature that masturbation causes ED btw, only old wives' tales and myths.
This website tree has some links that has peer review and also other studies. Lots and lots are coming out on this, if you are unconvinced by those two studies I am sure I can find a bunch more. (just read past the stuff on porn) OneTab shared tabs

You have to boil down why is fornication and adultery sin, why is lust sin. It's because it causes us harm and turns a gift from God into a vehicle of suffering, an insult to the Almighty who gave the gift. It's to be an act of love and creating families.
it's sin because it's taking something that is not yours. Someone elses wife on a porn screen, someone who is not your wife, desiring something not yours. In your case, you are desiring a sexual feeling, without the sex, commitment of a relationship etc. It's the same thing.
But outside of marriage, it creates unwanted children who are not raised right and spiral into a lifestyle of further sin for generations, it creates children that are often killed off either in abortion in the modern days or infanticide/human sacrifice to molech in earlier days.
this is all quite another topic
It is also a vector for disease, the more sexual partners you have the more likely you are to spread disease.
and finally, outside of a loving marriage, sex can be weaponized and used as a means of violence and control, taking something good that God made and using it directly for evil.
Now why are lust and pornography sin?
discontentment is what lust is. It's desiring anything that is not yours. It's saying to God, "I want such and such, I lust for it, I desire it".. It can be money, mammon, it can be a woman, it can be a chemical reaction from masterbating. It can be all of that combined.

I believe I addressed all of this quite well in my definition of what lust is.
But lemme guess it'll cause blindness and hair to grow on people's palms as well?
Hey whatever works, when I was young they said if you have sex someone will get pregnant. No one ever said you could have safe sex. All that existed, but they didn't tell the whole truth. The point is sex is a sin because it's against God's will for our lives, because we are lusting after someone we are not married to. We just want a quick fix, no different than your quick fix. It's all lust in God's eyes.

well again some are made eunics by birth that is what the Bible says. But if that is your calling, then masturbation is not for you to begin with, secondly it's still a sin. Because what if God healed you today and you went out and got married and you would be not in a state to where you could perform your marital vows.

You keep going back to enjoying it and doing it for a thrill, did you not read the part where I said it isn't even enjoyable? That I do it just to not have it come out on its own? I view it basically like having to take a pee. It's something that if you held it in with willpower, will eventually come out on its own, in an undesirable way. If your body will do it against your conscious will, that constitutes a physiological need. Sex may not be a physiological need, but [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] is. That tract is designed for moving fluid through it, not retaining it.
Which is worse, your mythological "masturbation causes ED", or the link between [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] frequency and prostate cancer ([bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] Frequency and Risk of Prostate Cancer: Updated Results With an Additional Decade of Follow-up - PubMed).

BTW, reading through those links it's entirely about lust and pornography. Virtually nothing about the physical act.
also Porn wouldn't exist without masturbation? Who are you even kidding? Porn drives people to rape, fornication, adultery, child sexual abuse, and homosexuality, just as much as it may drive to masturbation. It exists because lust exists, not because masturbation exists, which "what if there was no masturbation" you've absolutely gotta be joking, unless God specifically forbid you from touching your own body, or God resurrected you without the necessary parts, it's a granted that it'll happen.

ok so I would go with the latest peer reviews. Remember something over 10 years old is considered too old for scientific resources. One of the studies was from 2004 and that would be too old, the above from 2016 is ok, and I found a 2020 peer review that said that higher occasions of both sex and [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], could give you 25% more PSA levels. PSA is the antibody from prostate cancer.

You read it wrong, the relationship is INVERSE. Men who [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] more frequently had LOWER risk of prostate cancer, not higher.

BTW, you linked the same article.

What I get from that study is that recent [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] can cause an elevated PSA that is not linked to prostate cancer, basically a "false positive" on a PSA screening that results in an "unnecessary" prostate biopsy (that turns up negative). So the takeaway is that men should abstain from [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] for 48 hours before a PSA screening. Nothing about increased risk of prostate cancer, the other study had an inverse relationship that suggested more frequent [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] resulted in moderately lower risk of developing prostate cancer.
It also interestingly enough, noted no difference between masturbation or vaginal or any other form of intercourse. [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] was [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. You seem to think [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] one way is harmful where another is not as far as your body is concerned. The subjective experience may be different (and as far as I know, it utterly pales in comparison to the real thing), but physiologically, the body doesn't really know the difference. It was stimulated, and the biology worked in response.

yes I was just saying that [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] can cause increased PSA, and PSA is also correlated to prostate cancer. So take from it what you will. I know this is the case because they stay to abstain from it a day or so before getting a screen. Now does that mean they have prostate cancer? No they are saying it's a false positive. But does it affect chances of prostate cancer, well they don't know. So again if you have a cancerous antigen and that same antigen is present after having sex. Well then you should know and find out more about it. I will look up more articles later. But again links on that link tree talk about it.... OneTab shared tabs

Sir again let me repeat a post I was talking about before...you are not happy with your life. Your sick, your lonely life has given you a bad sample. You depressed. So you have run to touching yourself as your quick fix to get happy. And let me tell you, no sin will make you happy. There is a verse but I can't find it but it basically says that sin is pleasurable for a moment but after this the judgement. Again masturbation is linked to ED. Again your depressed and instead of going to alcohol or drugs to mask the pain you have used touching yourself, I am here to tell you to stop. Go to the Lord to fill your needs.

PSA isn't a cancerous antigen, it's an antigen expressed in the prostate, if you have cancer more of it will get into the bloodstream is all, and apparently, other situations like BPH, or just frequent ejaculations can also elevate it. That's why it's a screen not a definitive test. When I last worked, I was a clinical laboratory scientist, I ran PSA's in immunology assay machines.
But anyway, it's not about getting a quick fix to be happy, it's about taking care of a physiological need in a way I can control rather than letting it happened uncontrolled in a manner that's inconvenient.
1 Corinthians 6:12
So, is it expedient? I argue, yes, it's taking care of a physical need so that I can waste as little time with it as possible, vs devoting more time to cleaning up after an "accident", and so that I can get restful sleep rather than being interrupted and being unable to get back to sleep. It also clears out your head from lustful thoughts, that the longer you abstain, the more and more you think about sex. If I force myself to abstain then it gets to a point where I can't even pray without lustful thoughts getting into my head, I can't read the bible because visuals of sex keep being imagined. I may not have looked at anything ponographic for months, but my mind is creating the imagery against my will. It is not expedient for me to abstain to the point that it gets in the way of prayer and bible study, it's the opposite. So in my case at least... it's a matter of expediency, resolve the physiological need, so that it's not on my mind for a week or so, and I can pray clearly and read clearly.
I compare it to trying to pray or read the bible if you really have to pee. Are you going to focus more on prayer or are you going to focus more on holding back from urinating as the pressure to do so increases?
