If there are to be post Stuff Hits the Fan communities, I suggest they would be best formed prior to those events. Any thoughts about what should be done and maybe what should not be done?
One group has actulaly set up gallows to install fear in the community.
I don't think so...

Local churches in a community can't even agree how and when to baptize people...don't see a local church being the answer...we have to think "community" rather than our local church....my next door neighbors either don't go to the same church or don't go at all...and I need my neighbors when the hard times come...fantasy to think my local congregation is going to be onboard with prepping...sorry to throw cold water on the notion..

Well you have a point there MrJ. Even on these forums I have seen people fall out with each other over what version of the Bible to use. I would hope that hard times would cure some of that non-sense.
Perhaps you are correct about the community approach. Currently we are family oriented. Ourselves and our kids. About 6 or 8 families all in all.

An interesting resource would be Richard Wurmbrand's "Tortured for Christ"....seems in the Romanian prisons where the Communists put the Christians and tortured them they were able to get past their "denominations" and find some common ground...shame it has to come to that...:(

If we all read the Bible and pray to the same God of that Bible then we just follow what that bible says. Simple. If people cant get past that then they have no business calling themselves christians. Scripture can be translated into. Many dofferent languages.

If we are not worshipping him in spirit and in truth and dont have the same mind of Christ and love Of Jesus then there is no community.

The called out believers of the local community are the church. In some communities this is underground. Its not peoole who give themselves a name of religion. christchurch took themselves a very christian name but you would often hear of the most hideous crimes coming from that city.

When the earthquake hit, it was people who had the spirit who were moved to save people and offer their lives like Jesus did.

The idea is a great one, it's so much easier to work as a team and survive. The lone wolf will be a hard thing to be in a world without rule of law (WWROL) he will need to retreat into places and avoid contact unless he has the trust of others.

A group offers many many upsides, like multiple talents. One man or woman is a mechanic, another a gun smith, and yet another is a nurse or doctor. The work load is spread out. The tactical part of survival is easier in a group as well. I can sleep while you take watch, another can cook while a few others forage. And lastly who do you think the criminals will attack? A group of 20 who can all sling lead or the group of one?

Yes being a lone wolf has a few merits, you can vanish into the woods and live out the first few rough years while everyone else kills eachother but when you come back into town and had nothing to do with helping the flock you might not get a warm welcome.

A caution here, be careful who you let join your group. Do a lot of talking and soul searching first. That person needs to be trusted with your most valuable possession, your family so be careful and make wise choices.

You are right MrJim, that would be the truth as I observe it as well. I dont observe a genuine "unity of the Spirit" and bond of peace between most believers online whether here or elsewhere.

Maybe one of these days (on this side of heaven) we might luck out and walk away refreshed after being in the presence of one another and less like feeling we need a bath.

It is certainly not coming together for the better but for the worse.

God bless you in Christ

The one real time in the modern era I've seen unity amongst different traditions was in Richard Wurmbrand's Tortured For Christ where he speaks of the imprisoned Christians in the Communist prison in Romania and how they actually came together..seems persecution can put unessentials on the back burner...and perhaps other hardships will too.

As a prepper, I've always wondered why Mormons are so big on this and Christians ignore it, when the Bible tells us we're to care for those members of the Body who can't care for themselves.

I dont know anything about that, but I do believe there are those in every man made division that are filled with the Holy Ghost and that there will always be a few these within each of those that will.

The love of God being in them really helps.

It often appears like many of these online places established in the name of christianity have really become a place where the God hating, Christ rejecting folks are more welcome then the words of God and have really become habitations for devils to promote their own immoral lusts (and justifying them) and are welcome to do both that and the actual persecuting of Christians.

Other so called christians just cast in their lot to do likewise alongside of the infidels.

Yeah, look at the seven churches, alot of them were messed up but even in some of the worst there was always a few names. Its comforting to know the Lord knows them that are His.

As a prepper, I've always wondered why Mormons are so big on this and Christians ignore it, when the Bible tells us we're to care for those members of the Body who can't care for themselves.

I've known a few Mormon women in my life, and they are been impressively faithful to "one year's provision" for their family. From what they have explained to me, a big part of Mormon teaching is being self-reliance, not just for themselves, but for their Mormon community and the community in general. Their husbands were well paid, well educated professionals that worked with my husband, and the men were as adamant about being prepared for whatever may come. One women chose to buy the large factory seal pails of dried and free dried foods, while another had home canned food, a full freezer, as well as dried and freeze dried food and garden. What was equally impressive is all these women had a very good grasp of nutrition, so they didn't have dozens of cases of processed foods like ravioli, Campbell's soup and Country Time lemonade. Instead saving precious storage space for "whole foods"; minimally processed food, rich in their original nutritional
content.

I had though I was doing a great job when it came to food storage, until I met these Mormon ladies, then I was humbled and made changes.

**EDIT to change misspellings! Those were bad ones, too!
