Forgiveness: Why such an impossible command?

Dear oktornado. God is Love, and God wants Loving men and women. Why
Forgiveness? Love and Forgiveness are most important to God our Heavenly Father, and God wants both from us. God will always forgive us, as we forgive others. If we want Forgiveness, we must learn to forgive. Jesus told us in His Prayer: " Father forgive us as we will forgive those who sin against us."
As for Love: "The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. The second is like it: Love our neighbour as ourselves: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends." Then Jesus points out: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will empower us with His Love, also. We just have to " ask and shall receive," Matthew 7: 7-10. We keep asking God and thanking God, then we share all Love and Joy with our neighbour: God wants us to Love and Obey.
You have heard of " what ye sow ye shall reap," that is God`s eternal Law of justice. If we do not forgive, we will reap the consequences, sooner or later.
Galatians 6: 7-8: God will not be mocked, oktornado.
As for those three people who treated you so badly: leave it to God, they will
get their right deserts: Punishments. You have to decide: Forgiveness and Love, or No forgiveness, and No Love. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

where did you get the idea they were hateful thoughts? non flattering things are a very far cry from hateful things...seriously, you would be well served to close your mouth long enough to listen to someone other than yourself for a change. what I said, if you cared enough to read it, is that my flesh wanted revenge, my spirit/heart, wanted to love. Secondly, I already talked about 1. forgiveness being from God, that is spirit not flesh and 2. that it is something we choose daily sometimes moment by moment, that is, we choose to live in the power of the HS or we choose not to. You need to get off the internet and pay more attention to your children before another accident happens. I know what is bothering you, but you can't face it.
Been there done that, when my son was two I was busy in the kitchen, he was playing in the other room and stuck something into the electirical socket.

wow...your lack of getting it is amazing, especially from someone who claims the HS is telling them things. First, our kids are old enough to be left alone, which tells me that you are not hearing from God, cause God knows the age of our children. Secondly, the accident had nothing to do with not being supervised, which tells me that you are projecting your own issues on my situation, which is evidence of lack of forgiveness on your part. Thirdly, I have already helped others deal with our sons death, which testifies to the fact that God's power through the HS and the forgiveness that He has given me, is more powerful than your false accusations. And lastly, there were a whole lot of things going on at the time, that were very hurtful and evil, and destructive, and as to forgiveness, those are harder to forgive than the actual death of our son, which was just an accident...in fact, even that first week, God used us to witness to others the power of the living God even over death, which is how I know that your accusations are founded on evil not love, grace, and truth.

Furthermore, the need to forgive is not limited to our sons death, as I mentioned previously so your fixating on this one aspect of my life shows that you just want to stir trouble rather than actually listen to what is being said about forgiveness, you know, your jealousy that I might know something about forgiveness that you don't yet know...

Luke relates how Jesus told four parables back to back.

Lost Sheep...sins of ignorance
Lost coin......sins of negligence
Prodigal son...Planned sins and unforgiveness/judgmentalism.
Shrewd Manager....(things that make you go hummmm)



The parable of the Shrewd Manager is the one I am going to speak about.
All of the people held debts owed. None of the people had all of their debts erased. They all owed different amounts. At the end of the story they all still owed debts but some people's debts were practically non-existent any longer.

BUT

In an commodity based economy it would appear clear. The value of the debt that was forgiven from everybody was equal.

So What was Jesus saying?

We are human, we only have a human's ability to forgive. We cannot forgive like God can. Nor should we be able to forgive child molesters of the evil they perpetrate...they still have to go to jail no matter how much they repent of their perversion. Some people (Like NPD's) have no ability to repent but we still need to forgive them as much as we are able to...because bitter roots destroy the vessel that contains them. Not saying that we even should forgive such people to the level of allowing them to watch my children unsupervised.

What I am saying though is forgive them as much as you possibly can...and go on with life. Maybe in time forgive them some more as your forgiving muscles grow bigger and stronger.

But some hurts run too deep to be forgiven completely. And God recognizes this. And forgives us anyway even though we can't forgive others as well as He forgives us.

not sure what you are trying to say, cause you seem to be contradicting yourself....so let me point out a few things and you sort it according to what you are intending rather than the contradiction that you are speaking...1. forgiving as we are instructed, comes from the HS within, not of the flesh, that is because we as believers are no longer flesh alone, but spirit, iow's our spirit is alive in Christ. 2. as to forgiving a molester...one of the people I needed to forgive was someone who molested me as a young teen. It is absolutely possible. I would never allow my children to stay at their house, and the truth of the matter is that he has never sought reconciliation with me, but as to forgiving, pity me if I refused to forgive. But, this goes back to the 3. that we already talked about, there is a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. I'm pretty sure I even posted some scriptures on this topic. Many people are taught that they are the same thing, in reality, they are very different things...

What I am saying though is forgive them as much as you possibly can...and go on with life. Maybe in time forgive them some more as your forgiving muscles grow bigger and stronger.

I was molested, and forgave...my father tried to kill me with allergies and when i couldn't breath, laughed and used the chemical on the carpet so I couldn't get away from it, and I forgave....my children were physically assaulted to the point of near ER visit for our stand for Christ, and I forgave...shall I go on...naw, cause to talk about all that had to be forgiven, glorifies the sin, personally, I would rather glorify God and leave the sin to collapse into the past evils of this world.

and the topic of discernment into taking the wisest action in regard to children are very different topics .

the title is misleading in that it is false .
it is written that you will never be tempted above what you are able to bear - the temptation to NOT FORGIVE is a temptation like any other - there fore it is not impossible to obey it - not ever .

There are three people I've had the misfortune to encounter in my life that I truly hate. These people caused me so much grief I can't possibly let that go. It goes against every fiber of my being. I know what the bible says and I've been reminded of it many times, but I just can't let these people off the hook. It devalues me somehow if I do.

Things that help me forgive is , I think that God forgives me, I put my self in there shoes if i had done what they did i would want forgiveness. I think that it will please God when I forgive the person, so i do it for God.

I don't make it about the person I am forgiving, I make it about God or my self i go with my sinful nature instead of trying to go against it. God brings for Good from evil, I try to do what I see God doing. The easiest thing to do is think about yourself, so do it for God or do it for you, but try.
