It was forgiveness for late comers in St. John Chrysostom's Pascha Homily.
Having met Fr. Vasily Vasilievich in person, I am not sure I am a huge fan of his anymore.

I have emailed the Reader Alex, writer of The Onion Dome. He is a really cool guy with a great sense of humor.
I mean I have met and know personally a priest who acts exactly like Fr. Vasily Vasilievich and interacting with this priest is no fun at all. He is a self proclaimed expert in everything and wants to rule the world. I hate to speak ill of a priest, but those on TAW who know me in real life will tell you it is true.

Wow. That's... unfortunate. I guess I always assumed folks like Fr. Vasily were comic because they were overexagerated. Lord have mercy!
Anyhow, glad to hear you're ok with Rdr. Alex - he's a fantastic guy.

If you remember a few years ago when I got the dog I named Tikhon, I sent him a note telling him about that. His response was that he wondered if his bishop would cringe if he heard him sing "O dog, our dog, who chewest all things"!
As for the exaggeration, I wish it were a joke. Fr. Vasily has told me that he knows alot more about icons than I do. And I have been painting icons since 1996.
BTW, the Fr. Vasily that I know is OCA, not ROCOR.

That is truly sad that you have had this experience. I had always taken a benevolent bent on the fictional Fr. Vasily, picturing him at once ranting and also giggling inside knowing he was stretching the limits. To be with a priest who is overly rigid and self important would indeed be a real downer.
