Does anyone believe that god forgives sins after a person has passed away and meets him, learns about him and finally has the ability to understand why they need god?

I don't know.

My speculation is, God can forgive whoever He wants, whenever He wants. Perhaps the only person who can't be forgiven is the person who ultimately won't accept forgiveness. What that would look like, I could only guess.

I should note that I don't believe in "eternal conscious torment." Jesus does seem to believe in some sort of possible exclusion from God's Kingdom, but again what that would look like (or how long it would last) - I just don't know.

Somewhere in the thread MacArthur is provided as a source. Know that MacArthur's views skew fundamentalist & therefore I would look elsewhere for a comprehensive look at Christian beliefs. I would avoid using references to NDEs as well.
