I don't really like the vocals. The way he sings it is just...Strange. Neat song though. Here ya go.

That worked out...amazingly well. I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera fan anyway. Brilliant.

I know they're popular among the 15 year-old set, but I like this band in spite of that, so here's a song by Good Charlotte- The River:

Hey no problem if you like that kind of music. Not me though. Just not my thing. I have to put up with that stuff 24/7 on the radio when I'm at work. I swear it's the same songs over and over and over again.
Here's another for ya. This one might take a while...

Be back shortly. I need to go to the store, buy some food. When I come back I'll check out your next song. :)

Props to you for putting Beethoven on here. I'm not up on my famous directors, but I have heard of Karajan, though I had to look up that he was with the Berlin Philharmonic for a long time. It's quite alright with me that you don't care for Good Charlotte, I simply enjoy many varied genres of music. I try to find things I like in every genre (though it is more difficult with rap) and I completely sympathize about getting tired of hearing the same old stuff on the radio.

Here's one you might like, Mahler's Symphony No.6 with Valery Gergiev conducting the London Symphony Orchestra which I think is superior to that conducted by Leonard Bernstein with the Vienna Philharmonic. (Though, I have to say, if you ever hear the Boston Philharmonic version, you will be absolutely blown away. I couldn't find it or I would have put it on here.)

ETA: I found a better version conducted by Lorin Maazel with the Vienna Philharmonic (It always sounds better the slower it is, I think.)

I try to get into more and more genre's but It's difficult for me to get into some of them. So far the only ones I like are Metal, some rock, Opera and classical. The few Jazz and Blues stuff I have heard I did enjoy though. I can't get into pop and rap because, well for pop I can only really hear the vocalist and the background instruments are very simplistic. It doesn't seem to take any skill to do at all. The way they sing also bugs me. As for rap...Sigh...The songwriting if you can even call it that. They just "sing" about themselves and how badass they are. Then the way they sing bugs me too. To me it's just not proper singing. No range, no power and every other word is a cuss.
Sigh...I guess I'm just too closed minded huh? I do like some folk though for what it's worth.

Here ya go.

No, you're not close-minded at all. You simply have discriminating taste. You can't help what you like and hate musically. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Pavarotti in concert when I was much younger. It was a fantastic concert and I always enjoy hearing him. It was a shame that he passed away.

Here are some fabulous Jean-Baptiste Lully highlights from Le Roi Danse:

It's a French movie about Louis XIV that features Jean-Baptiste Lully's music (which I adore).

It's been a long time since I've listened to Iron Maiden. Good song.

Here's one for you that I'm not sure if you'll like or not. It's a cross between country, folk, and rock- it has a southern gothic thing going on:

I liked it, especially the last part of the song. I never really listened to much metal. I may have to look into it more.

Here's another favorite of mine- I love this vid:

That's strange...I swear I've heard that somewhere before...Maybe it was on the radio once or twice...Maybe that's why.

Funny how he's just bumping into every huh? Just let him try that off set and see what happens.

Since you said you haven't heard of Dream Theater and like the song, let me give you some more to wet your appetite a little.

I really did like it, especially around 3:20 or so as it kind of has an electronic feel to it.

Here's one that I've never heard on the radio:

I think I'm going to have to take a serious look at more of Dream Theater as I've liked everything I've heard so far.

I had a dilemma here with where to go next, as it was between electro pop and trip hop. I'll just go with the electro pop first. I haven't heard this on the radio either, but the radio stations in my area are quite limited anyway.

You know what I like about that compared to other pop radio stuff? It has all the band members instead of just the one chick in the video and the chick isn't half naked trying to be sexy or anything. It's almost as if it's actually about the music. I like it.

Except for the guitarist. He looks a little bored there if you notice... That pop is a nice change though compared to what I'm used to.

Here's some power metal for you. These guys actually created the sub-genre and this is their latest album. There is even lyrics on the video so you can sing along to it. :)

Not bad stuff. It's definitely growing on me.

Okay, here's the trip hop. As long as it is their older stuff with Skye Edwards singing, it's all good.

I actually like that much better than Helloween. Other than the talking at the beginning, I thought it was great.

(As far as the trip hop goes- I've found that people don't tend to be in the middle about groups like Morcheeba- they either love them or hate them. No worries.)

Other than the little clip of this that one may hear on the Geico commerical, I've never heard this song on the radio around here either. Of course, I was a Röyksopp fan before they ever made it onto the commercial. They're a Norwegian electronic band.

Nice. Seriously, that's a great band.

Alright then, as an incurable fan of The Cure (lame joke) I am always upset that no more than two songs by The Cure are ever played on the radio. I'm also upset to never hear any Bauhaus or Joy Division either. Oh well.

So, here's a song I like a lot:
