  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can athesists question Christians without verbally abusing them?
Namaste icystwolf,

i try to do that very thing... however, being human, i often react in the manner in which i've been treated.. ergo, if Christians can ask me questions without verbally abusing me or burning down my property (see my other thread on Sept 11 Memorial) then i have no problem reciprocating.

Can they make good arguments without using assumptions?
i think that some assumptions exist.. namely, that the person you're speaking to can understand what you are saying. there are others, to be sure.. there are always others, are there not? arguments rely on a set of assumptions to even begin.

Can they hold themselves responsible for the things they say?
i can only speak for myself here, but yes, i am responsible for everything that i say.

Can they humble?
some can and some can't... it's an individual thing really. it's not correct to try to lump sum people together.. in my opinion.

Can they accept that their fault is their fault?
it would seem silly to posit that atheists don't have faults, would it not? again, this is an individual aspect. i accept all my faults.. i may not like having them pointed out to me :) but i accept them as mine... and, to be honest, it is imperative that others point them out.. often i do not recognize them and i require my fellow man to assist me... unwittingly or not, in my spiritual growth.

Can they finally prove God dosen't exist, even though he does exist?
this seems to be an individual question, not one posed to a group of people. there is, as you must know, some question of what "proof" would be acceptable to "prove" God or "disprove" God. what sort of evidence would you accept as a proof of Gods non-existence? is it the same criteria to establish God's existence?

Can they actually prove the Bible God dosen't exist?
see my point above. generalized questions to a generalized audience will produce generalized answers... though you are framing the questions in such a fashion as to produce a specific answer.

If the Bible God dosen't exist, and yet there is really a God...would he not be present in one of the religions of the world today...and if so, which is it? and why?

If athesist believe that the Bible God is not the God that exists in the universe, does that mean theres an athesist god.....

Thus, Christians have God and Jesus as Lord, Jews have God or Yaweh, Muslims have allah, Hindui have billions of gods, taoism have their ancestors as gods....etc......and now we have a new religion of Athesists whom claim there is an unknown, unacting, fully conceptualised and existance of a true god that is not God of the Bible.

Hmmmm.........
you've incorrectly characterzied Hinduism and Taoism, however, i believe, based on your previous posts, that you have very little interest in actually understanding these traditions and "no one can tell you defintions because you know them all already", suffice it to say that, this is grossly simplisitic and inaccurate :)
