The Prince of This World
John 14:30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.
There is no truth in Satan
John 8:42-47 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
The world presents a backdrop for Satan to paint his deceptions using craftily, the knowledge of good and evil. Consider a full cross section of men in the church and men in the world. There are many prominent, influential voices in the church that in the world would be considered nerds. Studious, smarter than most, and getting the most out of that intellectual edge. In balance, there are also many highly visible Christians in the arenas of sports and entertainment and by their celebrity cause many to take comfort in the fact that you can be cool and be a Christian. Across Christianity, the truth is you find all types of men, and we cannot use any social standard in their consideration or admiration. And yet, this power of Satan is highly influential and easily discernible by those led by the Spirit.
In Christ we must allow the Holy Spirit to convict to cast out the ruler of this world
John 16:5-10 “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged."
Remember where you came from
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Keep lifting up Jesus
John 12:
31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.
33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
