CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hope everyone is staying safe and prepping for Wilma!
As of the 11pm advisory, the hurricane "watch" was upgraded to a warning from Tampa, south hooking around the peninsula all the way back up to Jupiter. I am just south of Miami, in Homestead, and so far it is forcasted that we are going to get the "dirty" side of the storm (opposite than usual). The bright side? Because the storm is coming from the gulf, the winds will push the storm surge away from shore, so there is a better chance of avoiding flooding!! Yay! I got sandbags just in case though...

we're in Sarasota and Bradenton - hunkered down in our home in Sarasota, lots of water, dry goods - praying the elect does not go out as we'd loose $100's in food

starting to get periodic strong bands of rain now - has been dry and quiet all day until now

The winds started to pick up here about 7pm. They said to expect swells by 11 and not to even think about going outside after 2am. Thankfully they say the storm will pass by quickly once over land and should be out of here by mid-afternoon.

we were blessed - never got more that heavy winds and torrents of rain - passed after several hours - no damage, never lost electric.... and now the temp is *wonderfully* chilled!

Hi Everyone! I'm brand new to this site! I live in Orange City. I go to church in Winter Park. (Orlando) I am a stay at home mom, I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter and a crazy cute 2 year old son. I also have a wonderful fiance and can't wait for our wedding. God Bless you All!!!!

Oh, awesome. I love it over there. I shoot weddings at the Yacht club and churches in the Tampa/Clearwater area. So much so that we're thinking it might be a good thing to move to the west coast! The old florida style homes are awesome. Sunsets aren't bad either.
