  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We heard it pounding our windows while we were asleep last night. It was so loud it woke us up! That's the second bad hail storm I've been in this year! (The other was in Alabama though.)

I hear tale of softball size hail down by Sarasota.
hmm I live in the Tampa area and didn't hear of anything that big...I've heard dime sized is the biggest I think. Maybe I just didn't hear all the news. Hopefully it won't start pouring again before I leave school.

Fishing in the surf... beautiful locations all year round for my photography shoots... lots of things for me, my wife and our four children to do regardless of the season. Plus - I get to call up my friends up North and out West and tell them about our beautiful 75 degree weather in the middle of January, while they are stuck inside with snow piled up against their front door.

I hate the beach. I haven't gone to the beach in 10 years. Could be because I fry in 30 minutes with SPF 50 on!:o
Yeah me too! I always wear long sleeves to the beach. I mainly go to see the ocean and do stuff like eat seafood and hang out with friends. Not too much into the whole sand-n-surf thing. ; )

WalksWithChrist-- Where in FL are you? I missed it.
I'm not in FL anymore. I was in Tallahassee for seven years. I'm in NC now! Raleigh/Durham area. Not trying to be negative, but FL wasn't tuned to me very much. I like NC much better actually. More "seasonal" climate and MOUNTAINS. I need to get to the mountains too. Planning on going later this year. = )

What's your favorite thing about living in Florida?
(get positive!)

The tourists! oh err umm wait...well it's not the hurricanes either. Probably not having really cold weather...or mountains of snow to get in the way. More seasonal weather would be nice...but florida winters are rather pleasant.

Sense there are many things I like about living in Florida it is hard to pick a favorite. Sense you asked and I have thought about it, fresh water fishing has got to be #1 for me. Then water sports, hunting and sight seeing. If Florida only had mountains then we would have to change the state's name to Eden for it would then be truly paradise.
OOOOHHHHHH MY WHAT A PLACE TO LIVE!

I love the winter weather (except for this year), the birds in my backyard, the gulf, manatees, my grapefruit tree (bumper crop this year), the year-round flowers, the churches, flea markets, yard sales, reading on my porch in December, too much more to mention.

Hey, Mel, I'm in the highlands! Does that count as mountains? :D

Hey Palatka! Yes, fresh water fishing, and the beauty of the (altho scarce) natural wooded areas. Find me a lake or river and I'm a happy camper!

Being a native, altho having lived in other parts of the country /world (thanks Uncle Sam!), I appreciate the mild weather. I always loved my corner of paradise but truly began to appreciate it when I lived in other places. Yes, I can find "good" anywhere but as Dorothy said:
~there's no place like home~there's no place like home~
