Every word in Genesis being true might be an argument against an old Earth and evolution, but not against a round Earth.Therefore every word of Genesis 1 is true.
The scientisis have taken the simple expedient or looking at God's Creation and seeing what He actually made, and not accepting the 5 or 10 paragraph poetic description from Genesis to be empirical fact-I will restate my post as not all scientist, just scientist who have made purposely false claims about God's creation that do not line up with God's actual Biblical creation.
How would you know? You've never even looked.There are those who know they are making false claims.

If they really took Genesis literally, then they would also take for example the Tower of Babel being able to reach heaven, literally. Or the cosmic waters preexisting creation. Etc.Answers in Genesis, an organization basically devoted to arguing for the literalness of Genesis and thus one that can hardly be described as biased against literalness of Genesis, rejects the idea that a flat Earth is taught in Genesis or the rest of the Bible:

Another word for firmament is atmosphere. There is no physical firmament you can go and knock on like a door. The atmosphere that separates us from space.
So why even ask then?
Seriously, at this point, all you're doing is showing a very un-Christian attitude of contempt towards scientists only because of your own personal interpretation of Scripture.
Science doesn't make "official statements".-I personally doubt when events happen as stated in The Bible. Science will never make an official statement that these events are of The God of creation.
