I'm sorry, but every word in the Old Testament was spoken to prophets who handed it off to scribes to write, and then translated into the various languages in which it's been passed down to us. The New Testament was spoken directly by God Himself to His followers. But apart from that, y'all much prefer a God of One Place. He created One Earth, sitting in on Solid Pillars, walled off from the Great Unkown by impenetrable barriers, with some ceiling lights above us, and That's It. And again comes the Dualist Religion of Conspiracy Theorism to its Bad God, Satan. It's more like Zoroastrianism than Christianity, isn't it? And this kind of explains why anyone would deceive simply for the sake of deceiving. The old question, "Cui bono?", "Who benefits?" doesn't obtain at all by any normal standards. Ah, but if it's a game between a good god (Ahura Mazda) and a bad god (Ahriman) then every person won to either "deity" is a point in the game. They cannot explain even such basic things like sunsets, so this is too hard for them. They do not even have a working flat earth model, because its logically impossible in its nature.

The flat earth kind of worked for some primitive societies living just on some plain (like in Mesopotamia), with seas on their borders. Its totally unusable for our modern world. It was already unusable even for geographically larger ancient empires, like Greeks.
