Arc degree is a measurement of size in your visual range. Without knowing how far away something is, you can measure what part of the 360 degree circle of your vision it takes up. The sun and moon are both around one half arc degree when viewed from Earth. Even flat earth proponents usually agree with this.
If the sun is far enough away that it is indistinguishable from the flat earth then it is clearly less than one arc degree above the land. I just wanted to make sure you didn't disagree with this.

That would be the distance to China if the sun is 4000 above the land but appears as close to the horizon as you have agreed it does.

I pretty much lurk in this thread (laughing most of the time) because really it is best for those skilled in math and science to answer the ignorant. However, I know psychology, and here I can answer this particular item.
Human beings are hardwired neurologically to see faces. We are not only drawn to faces, but we see faces from even just the mere hints of faces. And that means we often see faces when no real faces are there. It's why we see faces in cartoon drawings of faces, or just the two dots and curve of a happy face. It is part of our ability to see patterns, even when no pattern exists, but when it comes to faces, its patterns on hyper drive.
The so-called face on Mars is simply a random, naturally occurring geological formation. The closer up to it we get, the more obvious it becomes that it is not a face at all. But from far away, our imaginations turn it into a face the same way we see bunnies and castles in the clouds or the Virgin Mary on a piece of toast.

Even if the sun is only a thousand miles up, that means it is more than 50,000 miles away by sunset. There is no point on Earth that far away in your model. The distances don't work.
Also, at only a thousand miles up, there are other issues. Do you acknowledge that it is noon in LA when it is 3 pm in Atlanta?
