The same mathematics (Newtonian Mechanics) is used to calculate escape velocity as is used to build a bridge, or design an aircraft.

Wouldn't it be nice if some people had a five year old's knowledge of science?

Please explain how "escape velocity" is used to build bridges. Aircraft have nothing to do with escape velocity either. Please explain.

You can't have much experience designing them, if you do not know how Newtonian mechanics is used both for bridge building and escape velocity calculations. The same physical laws apply to both you know.

Appeal to authority? Ooh, I would say Newton's authority was pretty good.

It is fairly elementary to calculate what velocity would be needed for GMm / r^2 to not decelerate it to zero.

It is appeal to authority as it takes a lot of assumptions into account....do you not understand why I stated do not post nonsense like mathematics disconnected from reality. In this particular case, you're taking the mass of the earth which is nonsense.

What significant verses from the Bible are you going off to decipher that the Earth is flat I'm not too familiar with this topic and have you considered any other verses that may contradict the verses you chose.

When fundamentalists more typically want to argue that the biblical writers knew that the Earth was a sphere, this is one of the old favourites:

Isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

Look no further. I present to you observable, testable, repeatable evidence. No CGI or appeal to authorities here.

Go to the 4:20 minute mark, see for yourself the sun's hotspot directly below. There is no way to account for this other than the sun is REALLY in "low earth orbit" and the earth is flat. There are NO OTHER alternative explanations.

There are many low earth orbit space balloon launches, all of them show the same thing.....the sun is within low earth orbit and the earth is flat (make sure the are not using a fish eye lens)

Thing is, if the sun was like that "spotlight" thing all the time (rather than being like a reflection in the clouds or water), then when the sun is in the sky, one small area of the Earth would get an insane amount of bright blinding golden sunlight shining directly over them. Not the case.

The OP raises a good question... but he doesn't take it far enough.

Just now I realized: my car - any car! - does only have a steering mechanism for left and right, foreward and backward. There is no option for up and down.

So how does a car manage to go up a hill? Logical conclusion: it cannot. Cars are not build to go up or down.
This can only mean one thing: hills, mountains and valleys are an illusion. Part of a great conspiracy of Bible-believing Christians. They are the ones propagating the myth of "mountains" to defend the literal truth of their holy book!
