Before I go too much further in THIS thread can you answer a few questions as you know of my faith and position. Are you one of the atheists on this thread or a Christian?

I am a Christian.

Second, do you believe in evolution, the bang, a roughly 14.5 billion year old "universe" and and an only 4.5 billion year old earth?

It is not a matter of "belief", it is a matter of accepting them as extremely useful scientific theories. Both the Big Bang Theory and the Theory of Evolution are very well established major theories, with enormous levels of verification and evidence. The ToE is stronger, probably, than the BBT, but it's sort of like saying 'steel is fairly strong but titanium alloy is stronger' - either one will serve for tableware with no danger of failure due to stress. At this point there are no known major issues with either theory. Details to be filled in? Yes. Serious difficulties? No.

As you can see in my profile, I'm a nondenominational Christian. As for the other things, I am more on the side of Young earth creation than evolution, especially since the theory of evolution has nothing to do with the story of creation as outlined in Genesis.

Step off the ball for a week and imagine flat earth and how everything works perfectly

The "flat earth" doesn't work at all. It cannot explain (among other things):
  • sunrise and sunset
  • stars in the southern hemisphere
  • aircraft flight times
  • pictures of the earth from space
  • the visible curvature of the earth at sea (as in the picture here)

Yes, that's what I'm saying, you're not looking for your own flat earth proof and you're relying on what we post as you rely on the conclusions of a gaggle of THEORIES to MAKE THE MATHS WORK. It's fantastical and absurd. Every single one of your points there HAVE BEEN tested, proven, documented, explained, verified and shown on video most times.

One picture from the sea in Toronto when I have documented proven videos in great numbers showing the opposite? Do your own work here Rad. How many "theories" do you have propping up the globe? At least half a dozen that I know of and I don't pay attention. You probably can't find the answer online today.

The idea of a round earth has been around for more than 2000 years because it explains (among other things):
  • sunrise and sunset
  • stars in the southern hemisphere (as already discussed)
  • aircraft flight times (as already discussed)
  • aircraft flight routes (including flights I have taken personally)
  • pictures of the earth from space
  • the visible curvature of the earth at sea (as in the picture here)
The "flat earth" idea cannot explain:
  • sunrise and sunset
  • stars in the southern hemisphere
  • aircraft flight times
  • aircraft flight routes
  • pictures of the earth from space
  • the visible curvature of the earth at sea
Attempts by "flat earthers" to explain those things (I have seen them) are just laughable garbage (or, in some cases, deliberate jokes which some people have taken seriously).

And "flat earthers" always avoid giving direct answers to questions, because deep down they know that they have no answers.

To be honest, I don't understand how people can take such obviously false garbage as "flat earthism" seriously (I have hypotheses, but stating them is probably against forum rules).

People who know the earth is spherical also have documented proof. We have actual photos of the earth from satellites and orbiting shuttles and the ISS. We have satellites that deliver television signals, internet, weather data and GPS signals that people depend on every day. Photos of celestial objects that can be duplicated by people with their own observations with their own telescopes.
Don't just assume that scientists, meteorologist and TV broadcasters are all in on a big conspiracy to try to make you think the earth is round so that you'll believe in aliens. People have far better things to do.

You know, if we'd just ignore this thread they'd have no one to spew their nonsense to.

They'd just start another one. There are at least a few active threads on this subjects going at this time.

All those images and photos are Fake and come from only a few original source, maybe only one or two sources.

But---some of us need the laughs---sometimes it's the only entertainment that isn't full of expletives!

Under the heading of "You can't make this stuff up!"

Ok, that's your viewpoint. Now, please show me how all the images I've seen in Astronomy magazine, Sky & Telescope, Google images, etc. of celestial objects that I can see with my own eyes through my own telescope are fake. Is my telescope somehow fake as well?

Not to mention airline pilots, and airline passengers, and everybody living in the southern hemisphere.

And I must be a key member of the conspiracy, because not only am I an Australian, I was actually a passenger on one of the airline flights that supposedly don't exist.

I'm still trying to understand the mentality. It's a mystery to me, although it seems to involve both an inability to think critically and a kind of paranoia.

And Aristotle. And Eratosthenes. And the Venerable Bede. And many others.

According to what I've been told by the FE people, all these scientists and everyone else is in on a conspiracy to make us believe the earth is round and that the universe is vast in order to make us believe in aliens so that when our government deceives us into thinking we are being invaded someday, we will believe it. Heck, even if the earth was as flat as a plate with a dome over it, the bible tells us that we're not alone. God created other entities that visit earth regularly. There are the angels in Heaven, along with the fallen angels, plus Satan himself. The number of them is possibly greater than the number of humans of earth. God is infinite, and His creation is no doubt far greater than we will ever know.
