  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How old were you when you had your first crush? Who was it? I dare you to tell the story.

Mine was a boy I knew in second grade, named Ryan. (I thought that was a pretty cool name.) I was SURE I was going to marry him sometime. We were so in love :love2: at least in my eyes. I think the whole thing just confused him? lol. He was not as big on the whole thing as I was, he didn't even cry when I broke up with him :sorry:

When we passed out valentines for Valentines Day I wrote a special note on the inside of his telling him how much I loved him, and that's how it started. I suspect that he showed it to his mom, who got together with my mom (who already knew) and they let us play together a lot over the next couple years. Our Moms are still friends. I think he is sort of a jerk? but he still may turn out ok.

There was another, more mutual crush I had around that time, but that crush was a more kiss-and-hang-out thing, we didn't plan to marry. My crush on Ryan... he was going to wear a suit and ride in on a white horse and take me to his castle and marry me someday. I just knew it. And isn't that the mark of a true crush? lol...

so post yours!

That's a cute story, Madam Gracie. Fitting for someone like you.

I'm not sure which of the two girls I am thinking of would fit as my first crush, though. There was a girl named Ginger from my church whom I knew from 3 to 7 years old and I played with her a lot, and I have this vague memory of us making one of those silly little-kiddish promises to marry when we were older (for all I remember, it was just to make our mothers do the whole "awww" thing and brag to all of their friends about how their children are in love at so young and cute an age, or whatever), but then I moved away from Chattanooga at 7 and I remember only seeing her again two times ever since, once at 15 and then at 16 when she and her family happened to be at that same church for the Christmas Eve candlelit service thing they did every December 24th, and since the family I almost always spend Christmas with was in Chattanooga, and still is, I would be there, too, despite being from out of town. Almost ten years passed since last seeing her before moving away and when we met again at 15, Ginger jokingly claimed me as her husband before our families. Still, not sure if I can say I ever actually had a crush. Just more of childhood friend thing, I guess.

The problem is, if that is so, then I have to claim this second girl as my first crush, which I am a bit ashamed to do because she was kind of a snob and not even really cute, but being just ten years old I had way different ideals then from what I do now as Sarah's Knight, The Protector of Angels. I honestly think it was because this second girl, Beth, was the easily known as the smartest person in the entire grade school and had the biggest potential for becoming some kind of prodigy in the near future, like on a level you'd see in kids identified as prodigies in movies. And throughout grade school and sixth grade I was, well, rather adapted to being the same kind of kid who strove to do everything in school and be better than everyone else scholastically. In and of itself there's nothing wrong with that, but it easily leads to misplaced priorities and needless heartache over perceived failures when you're simply not THE #1 best, and so I think I had some weird, irrational love/hate relationship with her (the love, or crush, part coming from an admiration for simply the fact that Beth was so bright and popular, and then this hatred manifesting itself at the same time through trying to beat her at everything, ... and failing every single time but once that I can think of). Quite frankly, I'm embarrassed at myself that she was likely my first crush; she wasn't a very nice or sweet girl, and even for a ten year-old kid I acted like an idiot over the whole thing in ways I can't begin to delve into. Basically, one day I begged for her love before the entire school and was writing her name in beautiful cursive everywhere, the next I hated her for constantly being better than me and even insulted her upfront a couple of times.

.... So you know what? I'm just going to go ahead and say that Ginger was my first, as she was someone I would be quite a bit more proud of to claim as my first.:satisfied:

Ariel from the little Mermaid. I liked her because she was mute. Found it cute that she couldn't talk.

I was a creep even at four years old, lol.

Really, Meh? I figured yours would be the same as I and every other guy who grew up in the late 80's, early 90's, as far as animated crushes would go: Jessica Rabbit. ^_^

Hmmm I don't think it was a crush, but when I was 4 I used to chase my neighborhood playmate up and down the sidewalk pretending I would kiss him if I caught him. I have clear recollections of him screaming. I think that was more harassment than anything else lol. Fun times ^_^

After that... It would be David, I think that was 1st through 2nd grade? I had outgrown my harassment fun though, so there was none of that :p He had a speech impediment (I think he had a cleft pallet) and took separate speech classes. His mother came in to do the Scruff McGruff puppet stuff. He had a cool last name (won't mention it though) and was tall for a boy and blonde. He was smart, very good natured, and friendly -- which is why I liked him and we were friends. I think we both moved away, so I only knew him for 2 years and being so young there wasn't anything more to it than childish admiration and friendship at school. No playdates or anything. But I had good taste, if you ask me :p Most of the guys I crushed on when I was younger had very similar personalities, there have been a few anomalies though.

I believe I was in second grade when I had my first real crush. His name was Benjamin and just too cute and polite for words. We were actually friends and played together in Sunday School, lol. He's married now and has three kids...and he's still cute and polite. A real gentlemen. ...I had good taste if I do say so myself. :asd:

Hahahaha well if fictional characters count :p I've had a crush on this guy since I was 6/7 years old. Because of the old X-Men TV series.

I never outgrew my crush though. Just the other day I was telling my friend, "...But in my mind, Kurt's face is carved by the angels."

There was an awkward pause. I'm glad she is still my friend :D

I also had a crush on Mary from the Little House On The Prairie when she went blind..

I also had a crush on that one girl from Oliver And Company because she was tied up in the end of the movie..

I also had a crush on Princess Peach from Super Mario Brothers because she was in a dungeon and well.. you do the math..

Crush on real girls? I can't think of any..

I always thought she belonged with Jason (the red ranger) not Tommy (the green/white ranger).
