I do not believe so; in fact, I wasn't even aware that any FFs were released on anyother system than the Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, NES, SNES, WonderSwan Color, PlayStations I and II, or the PC.

Final Fantasy I is the classic game, originally for the NES but has been released for the PlayStation and WonderSwan Color. In the rereleases, graphics have been improved, etc., but most of the original functions are the same. This game is annoying at first since your low-level characters cannot seem to hit anything, although this slowly changes. I recommend it highly.

Final Fantasy II was never originally made for a foreign audience beyond Japan I believe (in other words, it never came to the US, Canada, or Europe). It has been rereleased with new graphics but same general functions. This is perhaps the most un-FF official FF game there is. Levels are gone and improving your characters is dangerous and even more bothersome than just fighting more battles and leveling up a few times. I do not recommend this game.

Final Fantasy III, like FF II, was never originally sold to a foreign market until recently in its rerelease. It treturns to the original FF I design with levels, but with more classes to choose from. The function and game play is better than the first, and you play in a much bigger world. I recommend this game.

Final Fantasy IV is what was originally called Final Fantasy II in the US and perhaps Canada (?). It was a cheap, "easy type" version of the real Final Fantasy IV which included both an easy and hard type versions of the game. Today, it has been rereleased in its hard type form. The easy type version was the very first FF game I had ever played, and I loved it. Characters flesh out, there's a real story, and the lessons learned are tremendouly important for everyone to learn (sacrifice, virtue, love, etc). I highly recommend this game.

Final Fantasy V was never originally sold in the foreign market until its rerelease. It has a very complex class or "job system" which, although fun, can get a triffle annoying. Still, many people enjoy it, and after getting the hang of it, I'm sure you will as well. It is an FF I would recommend.

Final Fantasy VI was originally called Final Fantasy III in the US (perhaps Canada as well?). It has been rereleased with its original name. Its a game I highly recommend you getting.

You've already said you have FF's VII and VIII in this and other posts, so I'll let you enjoy them. VIII is very, very complex with its junction system, but still earlier than V's job system IMO. You will love it, especially the incredible graphics.

Final Fantasys IX, X, XI X-2, Legends I, II, and III, Adventure, Tactics and Tactics Advanced (II), and all others except MysticQuest, I have never played. I do not recommend MysticQuest one bit; its so watered down, its a throw away waste. There is, however, one reason that you should at least play it once; the soundtrack is arguably one of the best in any game. It is a game to rent, not to own, unless one is totally new to the FF games.

ahhh...i loved ff6 (i had the one for the snes, which was 3). i liked the music from this game the most. i mean...even though it's simple...it's some of uematsu's best.
and you can just play this game over and over...so the replay value is high.
great story.
and it has a lot of secrets (which are always fun finding).
a must-have.

i haven't played ff8. my brother has the cd somewhere...but he doesn't know where it is. :(

9 is pretty cool, although not my favorite. there's just not much of a replay value.
however, the story is good. and...each character is unique (unlike 6, where you had these smaller characters) and lovable. :p

mystic quest is very different. most people hated it...but it's fun to play when you want to relax. easy game. not much of a story though. eh...i advise that you don't get it. lol

tactics...i have...but i haven't played it. ...just haven't felt like playing.

wow...sorry about the choppy writing.

Kittie if you loved 3 (6), then keep an eye out for Final fantasy XII, its set to breathe fresh air into the series and is looking very similar to the old school snes days of the empire and all that.
it uses a new battle system and the animation looks spectacular.
So many people hated it. Almost everyone, actually. http://www.etoychest.org/content.php?article.249

I love tales of the empire and underground revolutionaries and things like that, the whole "sin" thing just didnt do it for me last time...

Yeah, I agree, "sin" was too enigmatic to be a cool enemy. Speaking of villians, anybody else notice how samey Sephiroth (VII), Kuja (IX), and Seymour (X) have been? Now I loved Sephiroth as much as the next guy, but Square should be a bit more creative with the bad guys, IMO.

When your sticking with this same epic every game... you tend to be afraid of change, you may start to loose sales and fans. *looks at FF8*

Ive heard that square are releasing some form of mobile phone final fantasy?
is this pure consumerism? do they care about the old school fans anymore?
it seems that casual gamers are getting all teh attention from these companies and the loyal fans are the ones missing out.
Hopefully XII pulls through in the storyline depeartment but I fear that it is becoming very westernised for the sake of the dollar.

Ive always given Square the benefit of the doubt, but after playing sword of mana on the GBA I was shocked that they had taken out the elements that I felt made the legend of mana a great game in the first place.

yes, final fantasy 7 Before conflict or somthing like that. It looks dreadfull. Why not a Nintendo DS/Sony PSP/GBA SP version?

and its being anything BUT westernized. A guy running around with a sword, is pretty much as japanese a japanese game will get.

Yes but what of japanese tradition, of honour and beauty?
It seems that the art itself is becoming westernised and the main characters arent really japanese?
maybe its just that asian culture has just spread wide and far, we take it as the norm now.
the scenes in the e3 movie of XII gives me the impression of tatooine type place, just me?

It makes me think of a Final Fantasy Tactics world, a place where this game is taking place in.

But they have to make certin changes, and taking the best from both cultures for one game is a great idea. Remember, there not just trying to sell in japan, they also wan't to get the western market, so I wouldn't be suprised to see them make a couple changes.

Though, I have not seen any drastic change in FF yet. There all very alike, if anything the most western was 7.

Could be. I for one loved FFVIII, and I thought the use of a female villain was pretty interesting. Ultimecia was a pretty cool bad "guy."

I did aswell. I just wish they didn't ruin it with the draw system, and boring "mini games".
