Graphics mean nothing. Heck, FF I is extremely difficult and III and IV hard mode are very very difficult too. FF V with its job system make it a challenging game, VI is arguably as challenging, and II goes beyond the meter of toughness.

Don't let simple graphics fool you; things aren't as they appear. I grew up with the NES; I even had one when it was still very popular. Those games bring back lots of fond memories, and a lot of them are quite difficult.

Perhaps that's because I don't (because I can't afford to :p) play FFXI enough, but I'd like to see a very good single-player game after the next FF (because FFXII is an online multiplayer as well!).
Actually, FFXII will NOT be an MMORPG. It will be a single-player game, although it will take place in the same world as FFXI and the battle system is quite similar to that of FFXI.

hehe i'm opposite. i don't like it when graphics are too good. it just seems to take away from gameplay. i mean...they still make good storylines. but so much time is spent on animating, i feel as if excitement isn't a high as it used to be.

but yeah...i can see where you all are coming from. it's a bit hard to go back if you started off with newer RPGs. but try them out, and i'm sure you'll be pleased. :)

oh yeah...ff I was hard for me.

hmmm...one of the downsides to the nes is the dust issue (i think it was dust). our nintendo was so old, it took several times to get the game running. well one time, i guess i was a bit impatient...
well when i finally got the game to work, the log was gone. :(

Really? I'm sure at E3, it was said to be a MMORPG...
Well, this makes me happy! :) Now I can afford to play FF again!

By simple, I meant simplicity in graphics. For instance, the graphics in FFX are more complex than in FFVI, and that makes the world more immersive, interesting, and fun, IMO. I didn't mean how challenging the games were, though. I'll agree with you that the older ones are quite hard sometimes, and definitely harder than the new ones.

Actually, it takes place in Ivalice. This is where Final Fantasy Tactics and FFT Advance take place. FFXI takes place somewhere else. Van'driel or something like that. I haven't played FFXI, so I'm not sure. But I know it's not Ivalice.

You're correct. For some reason, I thought I had read that FFXII took place in Vana'diel, but when I rechecked my source (www.rpgamer.com), it said Ivalice. It did say that FFXII had a similar look and feel to FFXI, which may be why I made the mistake.
