U.S. defeats England to advance to Women's World Cup final

The United States beat England 2-1 and will be playing in the 2019 Women's World Cup final Sunday. Their opponent will be the winner of Wednesday's semi-final between Netherlands and Sweden. The losers of each of the semi-final matches will play each other on Saturday to determine third place.

It will be delightful to see the women's team in the finals. I remember attending the inaugural game for the World Cup back in 1999, a fun experience. Here's to hoping these ladies win another title.

Actually the inaugural World Cup was in 1991 (also won by USA) but it was unfortunately barely a footnote on the national radar at the time. 1999 is the first time most people (myself included) paid attention.
