Actually, that is what I am in the process of doing. I have 24 pages (15000 words) so far. A short clip if I may (note:this is the prelude to a large battle scene):

After a while, the dragons stopped flying and started hovering in midair. “It’s right below us,” said Merlin. Then a beam of light shot straight upwards from the ocean and narrowly missed Hal. In an effort to see what was below him, Hal spun the water away form a central point to reveal a domed city beneath him.
“Attack!” cried Ravalon as the dragons dove down into the exposed area. Hal jumped off of Ravalon and as he landed, he twirled his staff and thrust it point down into the magically reinforced dome. With a cry of triumph, Hal unleashed his magic straight down into his staff and into the dome. Blue and orange blinding light coursed around him in the air. Hal called forth all the magic that he could withstand and then he drew upon some more. The clouds started to cover the sky as lighting shot past the dragons into the water. Fire shot from the earth around the edges of the dome and concentrated around Hal’s head. Light from the sun itself shot forward overhead. With a wave of his hand, Hal made the sky transparent like it is at night, and all could see the stars above. Then Hal concentrated, and light from the stars came down in beams of white light and the darkness as black as starless space was visible as it to came down over his head and started to swirl around the other elements.
“Give me your strength!” Hal shouted. Then Merlin and the dragons let forth their magic in all their color signatures ranging form pitch black to pure white. All the energy and magic formed together above Hal. With a word of command, Hal summoned the energy above and it dove into him, filling him with power beyond his imagination. Now he was truly alive! Magic coursed though his veins, where there was once blood, there was liquid energy. He was filled with power that even he, the most powerful magic user ever, could barely control. With his strength, Hal tunneled all the might and power of the combined magic into his staff and into the dome. Despite the strength of countless spells placed and woven into the dome above the Sorcerers’ base, it could not withstand the sheer power of Hal’s magical onslaught. Suddenly, a crack appeared under Hal’s feet. Encouraged by the sign that the dome was starting to weaken, Hal renewed his efforts. Then several strands of cracks appeared and started to spread out like a spider web. Finally, the cracked glass shattered around him as he fell to the ground far below.

I bet we will loathe Narcissa Malfoy...

I think Hermione will be involved with Ron, not Harry. Theye have such a love/hate thing going, and Ron was soooo jealous of Krum in book 4.

OOOh what do ya'll think about the eye color????

Definitely Ron and Hermione. Mrs. Rowling, PLEASE let Ron kiss poor Hermione in book 6...PLEASE? I think Harry will kiss Ginny and hopefully she'll be the very first person EVER to tell Harry she loves him. Can you imagine?? No one's ever told him. *sob* Well, I love you, Harry!!

Yeah, I'll bet we hate Narcissa, too. She's just so completely cold-hearted. Just like that little rascal, Draco. I'm betting he'll take his evil little tricks to the next level in the next book...no more school yard pranks.

And how many of you guys think Harry's a metamorphagus?? I do, I do. :)

And I REALLY want Dumbledore to be an animagus...I don't know why it's so important to me...it just is! I mean he's the most powerful wizard ever and he used to be the Transfiguration professor...he just HAS to be...even though there's very little evidence to support my theory. Oh well.

Eye color...I don't know, but it must mean something. And I do hope that in the 3rd movie they'll make more of an effort to make Harry's eyes look green. They looked far too blue in Chamber of Secrets, even though I think they were going for sort of a bright green? Or maybe they just over looked it...but HOW?? I mean, that's a really important descriptive detail that just IS Harry.

Love, Heather

Harry is going to end up with Luna.
Hermione and Ron are going to end up with people other than each other.

Any of the trio ending up together will just be weird. How many here ended up with their best friend? It's not normal, and Ron just isn't smart enough for Hermione. He doesn't get her.

I just tried to find a pic on mugglenet to see if Harry had green eyes in the next film, but I couldn't find one that actually let us look at his eyes.

They didn't even bother changing Harrys eyes in PS did they? I'm sure they were brown. I remember thinking how odd it was if his eye colour was supposed to be so important.

In the 1st movie they were sort of hazel...but still green enough to pass the test. Though, definitely not the bright green of the books.

Harry and Luna??? No way...Neville and Luna, MAYBE. LOL.

And best friends can be happy together...at least in story land.

:)

Heh, maybe you're right. My biggest problem with Harry Potter is that, good story or not (and I do love it) it's completely unbelievable in some things. It's needs a good dose of realism and logic.

I wouldn't be surprised if JKR ignored in this too. :(

I felt the need to comment on a few of these. Thanks a bunch to WWJD487 for the informative post.

I'm reading the first one right now for school... and I don't like it. *shruggs* I don't know what the big hooplah over it is. lol.

However, a really interesting read: Harry Potter and the Bible.

The thrid one is the one that grabs most people. Most adults rather. I had the same opinion as you for Philosophers Stone, then again when I read Chamber, but Azkaban really got my attention. As do many other adults I know. The first two are "kids" books. The finel three (so far) move on from that.

Wow, I had never even thought of the possibility of Dumbledore being an animagus! I bet he is one, though!
An interesting thought: Is a person's animagus form the same animal as his patronus?
As for Ron/Hermione...I'm not so sure. I mean, he clearly likes her, but does she like him? Heh, but then, I'm sort of a Harry/Hermione 'shipper.
The eye color thing continues to puzzle me. Green is, of course, the Slytherin color, but I don't really think that Harry would have a Slytherin connection. Then again, JKR has said that something small from book 2 will become a big deal in the future books, and in book 2 the Sorting Hat said that Harry would have done well in Slytherin...

The Sorting Hat also tells Harry that he'd do well in Slytherin when Harry is first sorted. The conversation with the hat in CoS is in reference to that.

As for the animagus - patronus connection- here's a relevant comment from Rowling from a recent chat.

class 14: If you were a animagus which animal would you be? and why?
JK Rowling replies -> I gave Hermione my idea animagus, because it's my favourite animal. You'll find the answer in the Room of Requirement, Order of the Phoenix!

From what I recall, Hermione isn't an animagus, but from the reference we find her patronus is an otter. Perhaps Rowling confused the two, though I'm disinclined to believe that. I expect she's confirming your idea of one's animagus animal being the same as one's patronus.

I think in order to see what JK Rowling has in store for us, we just need to keep in mind that she studied classical Greek literature:

Take Hermione, for example. An uncommon name, isn't it? Well, the daughter of Helen of Troy was called "Hermione", too: And her story is a classical "two men ending up loving the same woman and becoming enemies"-thing.

Ron's jealousy concerning Harry's fame has already surfaced. I think it's possible that this friendship will suffer a most dire crisis, with Ron joining the Dark Side, at least temporarily. Think of it. Should both boys fall in love with her at the same time, the consequences would be DRASTIC.

Ron becoming bad? O Lord, doesn't that family have enough to deal with already, I mean with us questioning Percy's alligences.... (heck, some of us aren't even questioning anymore. :) ).

I don't think Harry will ever fall in love with Hermione. There hasn't been a single clue (none that come to mind, anyway) that would lead in that direction. Ron, on the other hand, is showing all the classic signs of digging on her. ;)

I agree Heather Jay..about Ron and Hermione. Even in the first book they showed signs of love interest..simple stupid squabling is a GOOD sign :D

I too enjoy the Potter Books..my favorite was the first...it was so good I found myself not going to bed, just sitting quietly in my room reading it late into the night.
