I love Lupin. He seems like the perfect confidant - good listener, not too judgemental, responsible but not uptight. He is a bit of a tragic character, especially considering the loss of his closest friend but he is just so likeable. I certainly hope he doesn't die in the next two books.

I love Lupin....I think I already said that though :goes back to check earlier posts: ^_^

I'm a huge Harry fan too. I read OotP twice now and have been thinking of cracking the binding once more. I love love love Harry! The movies are only ok, but what can you do?

Cool thing, the religious education teacher at my church's school (our church has a private Catholic school with it) actually reads bits of Harry to the kids for their lessons and then discusses with them what happens. How awesome is that? To bad they didn't do that when I went there!

I find this mind boggling. How can anyone like Sirius?

All he does is whine and start fights with Snape.

Yet so many people love him. I just don't get it.
LOL, this post is extremely disturbing. ;)

Has anyone read the transcript of the recent Q & A with JKR (if not, go to www.mugglenet.com)? She mentioned some very interesting things...
Where is the interview? I can't find it on the site. :)

I love Harry Potter, but I have one big grude (grip? don't know) and that is that the wizards use wands. This is a huge NO! How can any self-respecting wizard expect to be taken seriously when he has to pull out a dinky twig to flick around? No, if a wizard must use a stick (in a sense) he must use a staff. Take Gandalf for instance, did he pull out a twig when fighting the Balrog? Noooooooooooooo. He took out a STAFF and SWORD and yelled in the best line of the trilogy, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

These are only facts that come straight from JK Rowling in the recent Q&A online

By the time the series is done, we will know all the background information we could possibly need.
There will be a new Minister of Magic!
Poor Winky will never be cured of her Butterbeer addiction.
After the series is done, JKR plans on revising all seven books.
There was a reason that Sirius died.
Really bad things are in store for Harry.
Harry will continue to become more powerful as a wizard.
We'll see Moaning Myrtle again.
Harry's and Lily's eye color is important.
In book six we'll find out what Wormtail's been up to.
Crookshanks is part kneazle (I think I spelled that correctly...?). Check Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them for more info.
We will see Krum again, but not for a while.
Will Draco and Hermione end up together? NO!
We will find out what Dudley saw when the dementors attacked in book 5.

Right at the beginning, when Voldermort tried to kill Harry, how did Voldermort and Harry both survive?
JK Rowling replies -> That is the crucial and central question and if I answered it there would be hardly any point writing books six and seven... so I won't!

We will see more of Narcissa Malfoy.
We will also see Tonks again (yay:)).
In the next book we will find out more about the circumstances of Voldemort's birth.
The muggle and magical worlds will not be rejoined.
In book six, the wizarding world is really at war again and Harry has to master his own feelings to make himself useful.
Harry will not be too busy for a little romance, however (but not Cho).
We'll find out what happened to Sirius's flying motorcycle (though it is possible to guess from what we already know).

¿will Harry and Hermione will be together?*sigh*
JK Rowling replies -> lol Not saying... but you've had enough clues by now, surely?!

To answer your question about a staff being a bit awkward, yes it would if you didn't know how to use it. You see, a wizard should be able to defend himself if he is ever cutoff from magic. Thus, the use of the staff as defense. And besides, if a wizard ever needed something small to focus magic with, he should just get an aumlet. Much more practical than a flimsy wand that would break easily.
