Okay, saying we shouldn't read Harry Potter because it goes against God telling us witchcraft is bad is insane!

It's a fictional book!

Hey Ariel. Welcome to CF. :) Everyone in this thread LIKES Harry Potter...so, no need to freak out. There are several other Harry Potter threads that are debate threads, but not this one (thank goodness). So tell us your favorite HP book or movie...and chill with us. :)

i like harry potter but its not my favorite book so far. i really like the tale of the samurai, but since this is about harry potter ill save that for later. the movies were kinda intresting when they forgot to add stuff in....like one scene having something but another not having it...i think the books are always better than the movies though. i think the most boring book was either the third one or the latest one (which number is that again?)

I love all the books.

I'm a little obsessed with Harry Potter, heehee.

POA is my favorite, it's the happiest one before all the death, :( .
I agree...PofA is my favorite...followed closely by GofF.

Marissa, I, too, am awestruck that PofA could be anyone's least favorite...that's just crazy talk.

yay! People who aren't bashing Harry Potter. w00t! ^_^

I read the first four in five days, then when OotP came out I read it all in about six hours. I had such a horrid headache afterwards, but I couldn't put it down, it was so engrossing!

Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban are my favorites. I bought PoA and SS yesterday at Half-Price, since I've only read them by checking them out at the library. My coworkers knew I loved Harry Potter, and so when Order of the Phoenix came out, they all surprised me with a copy last summer. :D

I also cosplay a female version of Harry, his alternate self Harriet. The whole costume is complete, I just have to sew the Gryffindor patch on my cloak. ^^

I'm such a fangirl. XD

I've never met anyone who didn't like Azkaban.

So, who do you all reckon will be next to die?

That's an interesting question, and one that I think we all like to speculate about.
Now, from what I understand (I wasn't a fan until after OoTP was out), almost nobody thought that Sirius was going to die in book 5. So we know that JKR isn't afraid to kill off characters that nobody wants/expects to die. We can also assume that we're probably going to lose more than one important/semi-important character, since not only are there two books to go, but they're now in the middle of an open war. One more thought I have is that sooner or later, one of the Weasleys has to die. I'm basing that off of the fact that not only are there nine of them, but half of them (more if the twins join now that they're out of school) are in the Order.
As for which one(s), I think that we can safely rule out Ginny and Arthur because both of them have already nearly died (and besides, I think he's going to be the next Minister of Magic :) ).
So, out of the remaining seven, who seems the most likely? Or perhaps we should be asking, who seems the most unlikely?
That was extremely long...heh

Well, I don't think it will be one of the trio...at least not until Book 7. Percy is a possibility, but I don't know. I REALLY want him to just be undercover or something. ANYTHING to justify returning his Weasley sweater...he broke his poor mother's heart with that move, the jerk. But I think, yes, it might be one of the older Weasleys.

BUT...how shocking would it be if Dumbledore died in Book 6???? I'd hate it, but it could happen.

Love, Heather

I have the Harry Potter books to thank for getting my oldest interested in reading at all. She wanted to see the first movie when it came out and I said not until she read the first book. She struggled a bit, but got through it and has been an avid reader ever since.

I read the first 4 books in a weekend before I turned them over to her (had to make sure I could check up on her to see if she really was reading them lol) I was skeptical about them, but ended up enjoying them quite a bit and am just as anxiously awaiting the 3rd movie and the 6th book as my oldest is.

LadyDJ - Yeah, these books are so fun to read...but that makes them addictive! I've read all of them at least three times. :)

As for the "who's going to die?" discussion, I've had a frightening thought...what if one of the twins died?
I mean, nobody expects that to happen and everybody likes them, which would make it the perfect shock.
I really hope not, though; Fred's my favorite character (George is second...I think I can see a difference between them, even if nobody else can :p ).

I agree with E-Beth, I hope Percy dies!
Do you think someone else in the Order (besides a Weasley) is going to die? Like Moody, Snape (I don't know if I'd be THAT depressed over that one! ^^), or even (heaven forbide)....Lupin? I would cry if he died....I like him a lot.

Well...I can't say I'm a fan because my exposure to Harry Potter involves the movie "Chamber of Secrets."
But when one of the characters said "Chiffon Lemon" to cast a spell, I wondered how on earth people can take Harry Potter seriously. I had to rewind it to make sure I heard it right.
Good grief.

No wonder people think we're crazy.

Actually that was "Sherbert Lemon"...and it was a password, not a spell. heh-had to catch that one...now...moving on to read the rest of the thread ^_~

Ok. I'm lazy. Didn't read the whole thread.

I can't wait for the 3rd movie and the 6th book XXD

I definately don't want Draco to turn good. You know, I have an odd picture of him saying.

"My name is Draco Malfoy. You disgraced my father. Prepare to die."

I wonder what Narcissa is going to be like. You know, since we'll be seeing more of her in the next book.

I'm a HP aficionado. I didn't start until the third book came out and actually was 'forced' to read it. Since then I've read/listened to the series about 5 times through.
