• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am currently not taking anti depressants. Bearing in mind how those thoughts flooded my mind last night, does anyone think I should go back and take meds or do you think this is just part of the healing process in the sense that feeling so low can come and go, and with time it will happen less and less until it eventually just stops?

I have also lost weight recently but I put that down to stress.

Any comments or prayers appreciated.

Thank you and God bless.

Sorry this is a little too short - gotta dash to work.

I'd recommend you get medical help as soon as possible. It sounds like you may need to get prescribed, a more gradual reduction if that's what the doctor wants you to do.

I'm not sure from your post if you suddenly stopped taking the meds, but if that is the case then it can exhibit what you're feeling now and could be a good indicator that perhaps it's a little too soon for you to come off them.

Have just said a prayer for you sis, keep us informed and keep talking to us here 's. Don't give way to those thoughts....

Thanks for your reply and prayer hun  I have not taken any meds for several months now. I am actually due to see a counselor in less than two weeks time, for an assessment. I hope they don't put me back on meds

What kind of medicines r u taking?
If u in deep depression, then suddenly give up pills is not v good.....
Take more patience in the healing process. sister.....
but u r not alone, lots of us on this forum have been there.

Thanks hun. I am not on any meds at the moment. I stopped taking them several months ago and have felt well in that time, until recently when I hit this brick wall. I hope it's a temporary blip.

I'm sorry for what's happening, hope you feel better soon. I've been there before but I didn't take ny meds or something. Prayer and hugs works a lot!

I will be praying for you. :)

Thank you. Oh you are so right about how prayers and hugs work a lot! I am so thankful for my pet (a lovely cat) as I get lots of hugs from him. I wish I had more human contact, but yeah, hugs definitely help. Thanks for your prayers. God bless you!

What medication were you taking?
For how long have you been off them?

At the moment my mum is suffering from withdrawal symptoms (she has recently stopped taking Seroxat), withdrawal symptoms include depression, tiredness, nausea, etc, but these eventually go in a few weeks.

I was on Citalopram and have been off them for at least 5 months now, maybe even longer (I'm crap with dates).

I am very sorry about your mother suffering withdrawal symptoms. I said a prayer for her.

God bless.
