Aww Mark I am sorry to hear that.. Hmm.. happening alot in Australia too.. they say budget cuts yet most companies are raking in the dough???

I will pray that you find something else quickly that is exactly what you need and want..

Sorry to hear you were laid off..

But I firmly believe that when one door closes, God opens another..

In the late Eighties, I got a job in a department store because my then husband had gotten laid off from his job. One of the store managers said, Gee you'd make a great department manager.. too bad were going bankrupt!

Well that 'door' closed.. but because of it, I qualified for 2 years of college.. without having to pay a penny.. so I got an Associates Degree in computer Science.. & I filled up my last semester with business classes that helped me get my present job.

I had a philosophy class when I went back to college.. and the professor said.. Look at adversity as an OPPORTUNITY.. and I've never forgotten that.. It is a chance to learn.. a chance to grow.. for the better..

Jerimiah 29:11 tells us that God has a plan for us.. to better us & not to harm us.. to give us life more abundantly..

Seems like now you may have a little extra time on your hands.. press into Him..

I pray that that other door will open soon for you.. or maybe it will be a window!

Father, I pray for Glenda's healing, peace, and safety while Mike is away. Thank You for being her shield and protector.

Draw Mark ever closer to You. With the extra time on his hands I pray he has deep fellowship with You, and You reveal the things he needs in this hour.

Continue to strengthen and heal pc4, and her son.

Friends, I have to run, though there is much I'd like to say. Time to get my mother from the hospital now to take her to a rehab where she can receive therapy. She will needs assistance I can't offer at this time. As she recovers she may be in my care, meaning she would want me to move in with her.

Jesus, You are Lord. Thank You for directing me and giving me authority and wisdom. Bless all my friends here and keep them under the shadow of Your wings as they make You their dwelling place.

Mom is doing quite well. She expects to be in her own home on her own in about a week. I'm a bit tired and trying to catch up with things at home, but doing well. The Lord has been more than enough. He has equipped me for this hour.

I'm just in a daze. Not thinking real clearly. (Some would suggest that's nothing unusual). Kind of numb.

Everyone at the office is treating me with some sort of pity, which I guess is OK.

This will be a real test of my faith, so we'll see what happens.

Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world! I want more of Him too. As we draw near to Him He draws near to us, both privately and together. It is wonderful how the Lord has knit us together from all over the world. I believe you and each one here have been called by God to be here. It is no accident we are all here fellowshipping, and seeking Him together.

One of the words translated as "seek" in the OT, in Ps. 69:32 to be specific, means to follow after in pursuit. I had a mental picture of what this looks like as I thought of a police officer in hot pursuit of someone. In that case we see someone trying to allude the officer, whereas God is not trying to get away from us at all. But the pursuit part is a good illustration of our seeking after Him. We are hot on His heels, not about to let Him get away. We are not casual about it at all, not seeing where it fits into our schedule, but making it our aim and focus, and putting all our effort into it.

"Seeing" Bartimaeus is a great example of one who pursued Jesus. I call him "seeing Bart" rather than "blind Bart" as he is typically known because he is no longer blind! He can see! All because he wouldn't let Jesus get away from him. Read about it in Mark 10:46 on. He didn't wait for the blessing to drop on him. He was dog-determined to get it. This is how we seek the Lord. We don't quit until we have Him. We invest the time necessary. We seek with all our heart, and then we find Him.

Our faith is always being tested. Be confident in the Lord. He is for you, not against you. You will have tribulation in the world, but be of good cheer, He has overcome the world. Be strong in Him and in the power of His might. Resist the lies of the enemy. You are not a failure. You are more than a conqueror and you triumph in all things as you abide in Christ Jesus.

Take the time to look up these scriptures and meditate on them. The Word of God is powerful, a two-edged sword. It is also nourishment, the Bread of God.
