I read the article. It does seem very pointed and centered around a particular denomination. Several things came to mind and I'd like to share them with the group.

KCM and Joyce Myers has done what Scripture tells every believer to act and be like in every corner of the world.

Romans 13; 1-3
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.

Romans 13; 5-7
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

The Son of God and Man of Son knows what is attempting to be done by this senator. In Matthew 17; 24-26 we have the words of Christ to minister to our outrage and imposition of being wronged.
After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, "Doesn't your teacher pay the temple tax?"
"Yes, he does," he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. "What do you think, Simon?" he asked. "From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own sons or from others?" "From others," Peter answered.

It should not surprise any of us that those who are in charge would send out spies and attempt to trip us up. Even our Lord and Savior had that going on.

Luke 20; 19-22
The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.
Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

We might want to rejoice in the knowing that these particular ministries or denominations are being attacked because they are reflecting Christ. Has anyoe ever seen the enemy lay low or still when the mighty work of God is being demonstrated. The enemy will do all he can to bring any work for the furthering of our Lord's kingdom to a stop or better yet an end.

Luke 11; 52-54
Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering."
When Jesus left there, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, waiting to catch him in something he might say.

What, then, is our recourse of action? First is what Scripture instructs.

Philippians 1;27-29
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,

For those of us who are Americans, we should at least know our own bill of rights.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment XVI

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

If carefully read and studied, which I claim not to be of total knowledge in governmental affairs, however, these three amendments in our bill of rights state something very clear and seperate from the other.

We have the freedom of religion. Amendment I

We have the right to be secure from search and seizure without cause. Amendment IV

Congress has the power to collect taxes on income, from wherever the source is obtained from. Amendment XVI

We, Americans, should also know that we can write our state senators and other senators in protest. We can go in and look at our resources available in order to petition and "show cause" that a specific denomination is being targeted. I am certain there are things that can be done to stand against this, if it truely is just a "witch hunt".

And above these actions we can stand together with prayer and fasting. We can do so much if we want to.

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The "witch hunt" is as vicious and unfounded as the witch hunts of the 1700s. Appropriate term, rmw. Is it original?

belle, that was quite a post! You did some researching! Well chosen scriptures.

Not sure what you are referring to as I am not all familiar with American politics.

I pray that neither the US, Canada, Australia, Britain or anywhere else will lose the freedom of religion. I do not need, or want, the government to be involved in matters of faith. That's what God raises up spiritual leaders for. I pray for a grass roots revival in Canada and the US as well.

It's b/c of Sen Grassley's interrogation, which is unconstitutional. You can find the threads on Grassley, or watch all the broadcasts on the BVOV this week. They are outstanding on this topic.

I'd like to talk a little about the move of the Spirit in Lakeland. It seems it is a little unfamiliar to you. Read 1 Corinthians 12, the first half or so, as a little homework. ;) Oh no, I'm assigning homework here now! ^_^

Back to homeschooling.

Isn't it good to know.....
You can rest and be confident that the Most High, the only true and living God is with you. Just as a shepherd watches over His sheep, the Lord watches over you.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.

Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Love you guys!

Yeah, I watched quite a bit of that last night on God TV (BTW, GOD TV and NHL Network make Direct TV well worth having, IMO) and have been involved in a couple of other discussions on other threads. I'm keeping an open mind, but am not sure what to think. I also realize that the perception one gets from television is not always the same as one gets from being somewhere in person.

The other thing for me is that I've been having a pretty heavy dose of "God time" lately and tossing around some new ideas. So maybe that affects my perception as well.

Cindy, what do you think?

Funny thing about Bentley, according to his website he's based out of Abbotsford, which is about 60 miles east of Vancouver and right next door to where I used to live. But at the time I lived there, I had never heard of the guy. If I had, I likely would have snuck into one of his meetings and sat on the back row just to get a feel for what it's like.

The good thing is that I don't have to be the judge. Neither God nor man depends on my opinion to act, so I can sit back and see things unfold. As one of the Athenian councellors said of Paul in the book of Acts "If this is not of God, it will pass and die out. If it is of God, do we want to be found opposing God?"

You have a very good outlook. I believe that was Gamaliel's advice in Acts 5 regarding the early church leaders, Peter and John. Paul wasn't even on the scene yet. He was Saul of Tarsus, and a real troublemaker for the church, putting them to death.

Regarding the services, let me mention what is happening scripturally. We see TB operating in some of the gifts of the Spirit - word of knowledge, gifts of healing, and working of miracles, from what I've seen. Maybe more. This can be unusual to one who hasn't been in services like these, which by the way the gifts ought to be operating not only within the church, but to the world. It may look a little different in another place, but when someone receives sight who was blind, I'm sure there will be tears of joy and shouting, and who knows what!

In services like these, where there is such a flow of the Spirit I believe one needs to balance with lots of Word. Not enough Word and people can get whacked out, and led astray. Not enough of the flow of the Spirit and the Word is dry and becomes a burden.

I see the Lord call anoint many different types of people. We are not all the same, nor do we have the same calling. And not all are called to one group of people. It takes many facets, many members of the Body actually, to reach the world, and to minister to one another. So one who I may receive from you may prefer not to, and vica versa. (Okay, how do you spell that?)

I believe TB is called and anointed. God is moving in the place. I think it's awesome!

Personally, I have come to the conclusion that I would not drive there for the outpouring without good teaching. Mornings are different, and I am very interested in going in the morning.

Funny thing, for so many years I turned John Hagee off the TV whenever he was on, not b/c I thought he was preaching in error, but let's say he just wasn't my cup of tea. But I always respected him and honored him, watchful to not speak against God's anointed.

I never liked Hagee. Just seemed like he was mad at the entire world, felt he intellectually superior and took delight in the suffering of anyone who was not his group.

Did you see the CNN series "God's Warriors" last summer? Very enlightening. One segment (of many) profiled Hagee and his church.

So, yeah, the guy is not my cup of tea and he's SUCH a turnoff that I can't even evaluate what he teaches.

I'm watching the Florida Outpouring on God.TV online..

The picture is a lot clearer that it was for me at the other link..

Just had to go to god.tv.. register.. and watch the link..

God is so awesome.. some of the testimonies from emails to God TV that are scrolling across the screen are fantastic.. lots of teens being overcome by the Spirit as they watched on TV..

In one family, a woman's 3 sons.. 14, 12 & 11.. fell to their knees weeping.. accepting Jesus.. She called her friends in Tampa.. her friend's 10 year old son was on the floor also..

Emails of healings as they watched on tv or the internet..

Oh, Lord.. the World is hungry & thirsty for Your Glorious Presence.. Alleuia..

Ok, that went waaaaaaaay over my head.

No experience with being a bride. Still working on my, um, "grooming" habits.
The Church is the "Bride" of Christ.. Jesus is the Bridegroom..

Hi, Mark..
