Cindy, what is INFJ?
Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging (there are percentages given as to where I place on these things)

It came from an assessment test I took for giftings designed for assisting young people to help them find the career they are most suited for. I don't have my email up at the moment, but if you like I can post the link for you take it if you like that kind of thing. It helps you get an insight into what type of person you by asking a battery of simple questions about yourself for instance - Do you find yourself in the center of a room with people or on the side? Is your desk neat? Are you almost always on time? - That sort of thing.

Mark, or anyone who knows me, do you think this describes me?

"Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. Those who are activists -- INFJs gravitate toward such a role -- are there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power.

INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.

"There's something rotten in Denmark." Accurately suspicious about others' motives, INFJs are not easily led. These are the people that you can rarely fool any of the time. Though affable and sympathetic to most, INFJs are selective about their friends. Such a friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words.

INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication. In addition, nonverbal sensitivity enables the INFJ to know and be known by others intimately.

Writing, counseling, public service and even politics are areas where INFJs frequently find their niche."

Hmmmm..... perhaps in some respects, although maybe not entirely. Now, please understand, I don't claim to be anyone's expert. I have taken a couple of the personality profiles out there and sometimes they make me go "huh?". Of course, no two people are alike, which makes pigeonholing very inaccurate.

OK, a shot in the dark here....

I think you are very passionate and firm in your convictions. But also very compassionate and a good listener to others. I personally have never seen a side that suggests vengenance or suspicion.

I suspect you would be a fine writer and an excellent counselor, advocate, etc.

Just one person's thoughts.

A follow-up question: What are you passionate about? (It's a question I am asking myself a great deal these days.)

Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! I think you're right about this,
"Of course, no two people are alike, which makes pigeonholing very inaccurate."

Yes, absolutely no vengeance, and rarely ever suspicious. I tend to believe the best of everyone, yet guarded, knowing how people can be. I love people right off, but trust must be earned. I think one's a fool to trust someone they don't know.

Here's more on my type, and you will see some of what you've said.

Idealist Portrait of the Counselor (INFJ) Counselors have an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and find great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential. Although they are happy working at jobs (such as writing) that require solitude and close attention, Counselors do quite well with individuals or groups of people, provided that the personal interactions are not superficial, and that they find some quiet, private time every now and then to recharge their batteries. Counselors are both kind and positive in their handling of others; they are great listeners and seem naturally interested in helping people with their personal problems. Not usually visible leaders, Counselors prefer to work intensely with those close to them, especially on a one-to-one basis, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes.

Counselors are scarce, little more than one percent of the population, and can be hard to get to know, since they tend not to share their innermost thoughts or their powerful emotional reactions except with their loved ones. They are highly private people, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life. Friends or colleagues who have known them for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that Counselors are flighty or scattered; they value their integrity a great deal, but they have mysterious, intricately woven personalities which sometimes puzzle even them.

Counselors tend to work effectively in organizations. They value staff harmony and make every effort to help an organization run smoothly and pleasantly. They understand and use human systems creatively, and are good at consulting and cooperating with others. As employees or employers, Counselors are concerned with people's feelings and are able to act as a barometer of the feelings within the organization. Blessed with vivid imaginations, Counselors are often seen as the most poetical of all the types, and in fact they use a lot of poetic imagery in their everyday language. Their great talent for language-both written and spoken-is usually directed toward communicating with people in a personalized way.

Counselors are highly intuitive and can recognize another's emotions or intentions - good or evil - even before that person is aware of them. Counselors themselves can seldom tell how they came to read others' feelings so keenly. This extreme sensitivity to others could very well be the basis of the Counselor's remarkable ability to experience a whole array of psychic phenomena.

I think you would make a phenomenal counselor. I realize being a professional counselor involves jumping through a lot of hoops:advanced education, licensing, etc. But I can see you have the inate skills to be successful because you are a good listener and have a great deal of wisdom. I bet your writings are tremendous, as well.

One of the things I so admire about you is your passion for God,faith and how that impacts your life. It's like stuff in the Bible,or even just various thoughts, are so alive and relevant to you. You have amazing insights. Unlike so many others I encounter, you don't seem to turn people away in a negative manner.

I am blessed to know you as a friend.

Well, I took the test and here's me..The protector guardian. :)

protector.jpg
Guardian™ Portrait of the Protector (ISFJ) We are lucky that Protectors make up as much as ten percent the population, because their primary interest is in the safety and security of those they care about - their family, their circle of friends, their students, their patients, their boss, their fellow-workers, or their employees. Protectors have an extraordinary sense of loyalty and responsibility in their makeup, and seem fulfilled in the degree they can shield others from the dirt and dangers of the world. Speculating and experimenting do not intrigue Protectors, who prefer to make do with time-honored and time-tested products and procedures rather than change to new. At work Protectors are seldom happy in situations where the rules are constantly changing, or where long-established ways of doing things are not respected. For their part, Protectors value tradition, both in the culture and in their family. Protectors believe deeply in the stability of social ranking conferred by birth, titles, offices, and credentials. And they cherish family history and enjoy caring for family property, from houses to heirlooms.
v
Wanting to be of service to others, Protectors find great satisfaction in assisting the downtrodden, and can deal with disability and neediness in others better than any other type. They are not as outgoing and talkative as the Provider Guardians [ESFJs], and their shyness is often misjudged as stiffness, even coldness, when in truth Protectors are warm-hearted and sympathetic, giving happily of themselves to those in need.
Their reserve ought really to be seen as an expression of their sincerity and seriousness of purpose. The most diligent of all the types, Protectors are willing to work long, hard hours quietly doing all the thankless jobs that others manage to avoid. Protectors are quite happy working alone; in fact, in positions of authority they may try to do everything themselves rather than direct others to get the job done. Thoroughness and frugality are also virtues for them. When Protectors undertake a task, they will complete it if humanly possible. They also know better than any other type the value of a dollar, and they abhor the squandering or misuse of money. To save, to put something aside against an unpredictable future, to prepare for emergencies-these are actions near and dear to the Protector's heart. For all these reasons, Protectors are frequently overworked, just as they are frequently misunderstood and undervalued. Their contributions, and also their economies, are often taken for granted, and they rarely get the gratitude they deserve.
Mother Teresa, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Steward, and Tsar Nicholas II are examples of Protector Guardian style.

Getting back to James.......:)

I want to go straight to verse 20 in James in the case I won’t get a chance to later this week.

James 2:20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

Faith caused Abraham to “do” something. Abraham obeyed God. How can we say we have faith if we don’t do what the Lord asks? How can we say, “Yeah, Lord, I believe You, but I’m not going to do what You say?”

Let’s look at the faith of Abraham, the incident mentioned in James 2.

Genesis 22:1 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”

Notice it says “We will come back.” That was faith speaking.

6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together.
7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,
18 even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."
19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

He believed it before he saw it. Faith believes before it sees. Faith has corresponding actions. Fear will cripple a person form moving forward. Faith will step out in trust.

James 2:23 says
“Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Believing God = righteousness. Faith acts out what it believes.

I'm glad you are here, Glenda. And I'm thankful for all of you.

Your post touched me so. My heart has gone out to you. I'm with you in your yard as you worship and wave your flags. I'm with you when you hurt over what has happened. I lay in bed at night thinking of you, and praying, "Lord, what I can I say to Glenda?" It isn't words that come, it's a picture of just sitting quietly with you. Listening to you. Being there. And keeping you in my prayers. Looking forward to what is ahead for you and Mike. Love what you heard in that email.

I wish I could say lots more, but I have spent a bit too much time here that I really didn't have this morning.

ral, what about James? :)

Mark, looking forward to hearing more from you this weekend.

I received news Angel, may not be back after all. :( It's always sad to see someone go, but I believe the Lord will add to our numbers those He has selected to join us and we welcome them. :)

Thank you, Sis..

You don't know how welcome your prayers, care & concern mean to me..

The last couple days have been difficult.. my ex ministry leader has been firing some unwelcome emails my way as we tie up the rest of the ends.. He is intent on getting in a few more digs.. but I refuse to answer back in kind.. instead I send blessings.. and he is, I believe, frustrated that I won't fight.. Hopefully, the light is showing at the end of the tunnel..

And he needs prayer too.. Mike & I have been praying for him & his family.. that they submit to God'splan for them..

Sunday, we went to the AOG church we used to attend.. and most of the people were so happy that we were there.. Ladies kept hugging me & saying, are you coming back!? They were telling me about the dance & flag ministry.. how much I have been missed.. what an oasis..

Mike got to talk & joke with a lot of the fellows that we happy to see him too.. one of the ladies told him, once you're back, you've got to become part of the prayer ministry..

It was wonderful.. We have a list of a few other places to visit.. and will follow God's lead & will..

Sorry about being so distant..

Girlfriend! You're INFJ??? ME TOO!!!! How funny. I've taken the Briggs/Myers several times through the years - in college, in leadership training, and in various workshops. I can't recall if I've ever met another. I always score about the same. I'm a borderline "I" (introvert), a strong N (intuitive) and a strong F (feeling), but also a borderline J (judgment). So I always read the ENFP description too.

I just returned from rattlesnake country. Didn't see one, but one state park had warning signs all over the place to be careful.

I'll talk about James tomorrow. Ral

We here for you. :)

I'm happy to hear of the love that was shown you at the AOG church. This was a refreshing you needed, giving you strength to face the other. Too bad you still have to deal with the ml via email. I thought you had wrapped it all up already. I pray it goes fast, but maybe this is a means to keep communication going, though difficult at the time. As long as there is some sort of communication, there is a door of hope, for there's opportunity to express love, as you are doing. You're refusal to fight back or defend yourself speaks volumes, both to him, and even to us. This is doing the works, as we have been studying. This leaves God a way to move in our lives. I know good will come out of this. It may be years down the road, or it may be tomorrow, but it will surely come.

Good! Waiting to hear from you on that. Looking forward to your thoughts and insights.

Good to hear from you about anything! I enjoy our fellowship. :)

I am borderline introvert and feeling, 100% J and very strong N. I almost fall into INTJ. I would have thought you may be INFP.

I know 2 others who are INFJ, one whom I've been friends with for over 20 years. I think I'm drawn to people who are INFJs, so even though it is 1% of the population, the Lord divinely has connected me with 3 now, that I know of. I find it all very interesting.

We have 3 types of poisonous snakes in FL. I was bit by a snake last week, non-poisonous. :D There was a snake about 12-18 in. long sunning himself in the early morning sun on the road. Not wanting want him to be run over, I picked him up to put him in the grass and he bit me! That ungrateful critter! I guess he was scared. I sure tossed him in the grass quickly! My husband picks up a long one in our yard that shows up sometimes, the same kind of snake, and it has never bothered us. It eats unwanted insects and such, so we are happy to have it around. Both my daughter and I hold it. Next time I will reach just behind the head so it can't bite. I refuse to let fear take hold.

And no, I am not a "snake handler" testing God or misinterpreting scripture. Deadly snakes I will stay far from, and trust in His Word should I meet one, as I did one day. It was a rattlesnake, a baby about 12 in., but nonetheless, I crossed to the other side of the street and moved right along.

How can we say, “Yeah, Lord, I believe You, but I’m not going to do what You say?”

...

One thing God is impressing upon me is that actions derive from relationship. When that relationship is solid, actions don't need to be forced or difficult.

So many of the people I'm starting to associate with are focused on signs and wonders. For a while, in all honesty, I was too - reading everything I could about the "anointing", attending revival meetings, seeking after "impartations" and such. One day I realized that in the struggle to adopt the right posture, create the right environment for the glory to appear, to be positioned correctly for heaven to open.....my simple focus on just being with Jesus was missing. And it seemed to be missing from many, (not all) of the people I was with. So many people were salivating more for the "glory" to appear than to fully open themselves up and be known and know Jesus.

I decided I did not want to be among those who could perform signs and wonders, but were not known by the Lord.

Once I repented of my unholy ambitions, the Lord revealed to me how signs and wonders naturally flow from relationship. They also flow from manipulation - as I had already experienced from my old life. The question I needed to answer is if how I wanted them.

Faith without works is dead. But faith derives from relationship, and from relationship, obedience. Works without relationship are just as dead as faith without works.
