Because of who i am and I am not allowed to talk about who i am on this General Forum...its very hard to make a point without getting kicked out for just being myself...its not just on here (not Moderate Christians you guys are great) ..why do i need to be bullied into hiding stuff that all straight Christians can talk about with out fear of being thrown out or attacked on. Why must I feel like im being evil just to say "my GF and I went to coffee today".

Any ideas, suggestions to get around this on here and other sites or should i avoid it all together and go to where I am totally accepted both as a person and a Christian. ?

I almost left this forum in tears because I felt so unwelcome

I love you as a Christian sister. You deserve to be treated as a child of God. I am sorry for your mistreatment Suzi.

ive sort of changed as of late. i used to rebuttal and act defensive. but I decided that we are all in this journey together and i just want to give love and encouragement now to anyone who needs or appears to need it. <3 <3
thankyou my friend :) I may experience some rocky times but I'd rather give love and blessings in response rather than an argument :)

God Bless <3

Well I hope you do stay, as not everyone is like that. My moderate views are what have put me on edge with the Catholic church, so I understand feeling like an outcast. PM me any time you want to talk. :)

But if you choose to find a forum more accepting we understand.

I don't think you should feel like an outcast, but perhaps prudence about what you express, when you express it, and who you express it to are in order. For the most part here at CF, I defend Traditional Catholicism in GT and abide by the rules in OBOB, which prohibit certain discussions. Nevertheless, there is that aspect of Catholic theology which explores "possibilities" for Catholicism and the Catholic Church. History shows that many Catholic thinkers who were "on edge with the Catholic Church" were vindicated later (ie., Newman, Murray).

The same kind of advice, in its own way, can be applied to the OP. Many Christians simply won't accept her as she is, and there's no reason for her to put herself in the position of proving that out. But there are Christian circles that would not only accept her, but also be affirming. How this subject will play out in the future remains to be seen. Alas, I wish I could stay around the next fifty or seventy-five years to find out.

And you pointed out a noteworthy idea. why would someone want everyone else to afirm of a lifestyle that they choose? When there are many sites for small groups that like minded could join togeather. Unless they were unsure and needing approval.
We are to edify with the Word, not our own personal ideas.
I have been in some forums that considered me unchristian, thats when i bowed out.
Dont think we are gonna change minds by feelings.

Suzi! You better not leave this forum! Your post in my intro thread made me feel extremely welcome, and it wouldn't be the same place for me without you! You deserve all the warm welcomes in the world for being who you are regardless of anything! And definitely for being an amazing person at heart! Thank you deeply and I hope you stay, because I look forward to talking to you in the future! :D <3

So am I to understand that this forum excludes people based on their sexual preference?

Just to be clear: we're happy to accept you. However CF has site-wide rules preventing certain views from being expressed. One is justifying acceptance of non-traditional sexuality. So you're welcome here, but there are some things you're not allowed to say.

Officially no, people are not excluded based on their sexual preferences.
Unofficially people can become excluded through the actions of other members who, sometimes, misinterpret simply stating something pertaining to your life as being active promotion. It is usually possible to avoid getting into such scenarios by rewording thoughts and being sensitive to the sometimes knee jerk reactions to any sign of unashamed homosexuality.

And to be even clearer, this Bridge Builders forum is meant to be a place for calm discussion of any Christian issue minus the heat that is characteristic of some other forums. To be that requires the good will of all posters. It was not erected to be a safe haven for anyone who feels stifled by CF's rules.

I drink coffee with my girlfriends all the time, it's never caused me any grief here or anywhere else :))) but some of em give me grief when I mention wine :))). That's their problem. The religiious can often be narrow minded, but if we are spiritual we must forgive them their shortcomings. Prejudices are nothing new and if there were blue people on earth somebody would hate em. Women, Blacks, Jews and others have routinely experienced these issues. If people can't agree on whether it's ok to play a musical insturment as part of a church service they will certainly be hard pressed to be open any change in their social structure. Ignore em and go on.
