FCC reversal of net neutrality rules expected to be published Thursday

Net nutrality is not about government control.
It is about equality of use between users. With no one being able to buy an advantage, such as being able to throttle the speed of other users.
We all have to pay for access, but when online every ones data should be
treated equally.
Ending neutrality means priority can be sold to the highest bidder. Home uses will be a long way down the list, and our speeds will dramatically reduce.
It will also cause many problems as the USA is the only country with out net neutrality. So international users will no longer want to use american ISP's or servers.

Governments will always have an ultimate finger in the pie, as they can demand the infrastruction owners to comply with security laws. But that is not a net neutrality issue.

Noting that "Net neutrality" is not about control only when governments implement law about "net neutrality".

When governments use 100 year-old law, which was about control, is about control, and will always be about control, then government's intention has everything to do with CONTROL.

That is the problem .. with out net neutality you will have a closed system.
We already have an open system.

You want to use a nearly century-old mass of bureaucratic red-tape to regulate the digital frontier. Count me out.

Even foes opposed to the FCC's reversal can't find much besides emotional hysteria to complain about. Let's take a look:

Were talking about having net neutrality vs not having it. That is the choice.

You are advocating not having it because the agency tasked with enforcing it would get the power from title 2 which is distasteful to you for some reason you refuse to specify. I understand your preference to keep the whole argument vague since it's hard to imagine why you find title 2 to be a boogeyman, or regulating for net neutrality to be problematic (because it's been the state of affairs for 30 ish years.).

Letting the free market regulate itself doesn't end you up in net neutrality, it gives that task to internet service providers that are opposed to net neutrality and fought the idea of regulations to enforce it with everything they had.

You paradoxically say you dislike these same internet service providers while wishing to put them in charge of the whole thing, and you say you like net neutrality except you are advocating removing it. So yeah, you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I'm guessing they tore down those regulations on purpose and with very specific goals in mind that you and everyone else will get to see when they implement them later this year.

We're no where near the best in the world in internet service. We, as per usual, tend to pay more for worse internet service.

Ya know, I believed that a lot more before I drove 6000 kilometers across Australia last year. Australia may be rated on par with the US but service is nowhere near being comparable.

Just for the record, there's only one country that provides significantly faster average internet service than the US, South Korea. Take a look: List of countries by Internet connection speeds - Wikipedia

2 Mb/s is a mere 10% difference. South Korea, the best in the world is barely 50% faster. As for expensive, thank your government for enforcing local monopolies. A number of companies, including Google have spent large sums of money unsuccessfully attempting to compete against the government supported cable monopolies only to be hamstrung by endless bureaucratic red-tape.

Fortunately, wireless is poised to bypass the cable monopolies, just as it bypassed the Bell monopolies. Life is good.
