Trump rally shooter sought info on attempted killing of foreign leader[Slovakia’s prime minister Fico]​

FBI officials said former president Donald Trump has agreed to be interviewed by agents investigating the shooting at his campaign rally.

[Crooks] used aliases and at least some encrypted communication accounts to purchase firearm supplies and materials to build explosive devices, the officials said.

Investigators found two explosive devices in Crooks’s car, which was parked at the rally site. The devices were capable of explosions but were in the “off” position, the officials said Monday.

His social circle consisted mostly of his immediate family, officials said. The family owned more than a dozen firearms, and Crooks became interested in firearms as a hobby years ago. That hobby transformed into more formal shooting training and lessons in September, according to officials.

His father, who bought the gun used in the attack in 2013, legally transferred ownership of the weapon to his son last year.

“We believe he had few friends and acquaintances throughout his life,” Rojek said.

Shooter may have posted antisemitic and anti-immigration posts online, FBI says​

“Something just very recently uncovered that I want to share is a social media account, which is believed to be associated with this with the shooter – in about the 2019, 2020 timeframe,” [FBI Deputy Director] Abbate said Tuesday.

On that account, “there were over 700 comments,” Abbate said, which, “if ultimately attributable to the shooter, appear to reflect antisemitic and anti-immigration themes, to espouse political violence, and are described as extreme in nature.”

Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe said that the Secret Service sniper team and Donald Trump’s security detail did not know Thomas Matthew Crooks was on a roof with a rifle until the would-be assassin nearly killed Trump.

“Based on what I know right now, neither the Secret Service counter sniper teams nor members of the former president’s security detail had any knowledge that there was a man on the AGR roof with a firearm,” Rowe said.

Confusion has circled around when local law enforcement passed along information to the Secret Service on Crooks, who they originally spotted over 90 minutes before the shooting.
